I was gonna write a long pseud screed on identity, but actually, I just want to know: has anyone here ever heard of the "Platypus Affiliated Society" what do you think of it? I don't really want to explain it, because I can't, and also because I want the opinions of people that have actually engaged with it, and not a bunch of people who decided its bad because of some sectarian thing they read on Wikipedia. Its possible that an escalation would lead to the available nukes being dropped in Korea, Japan and India, which would do unimaginable damage in itself

but there is still the optics of this, both internally and externally. externally, it would make the US to a hitlerian villain in a heartbeat. But most importantly, internally it would have the effect of the Tet offensive x1000. The American public couldnt even stomach vietnam, what do you think will happen if millions of civilians drown to death?

Ofc one could also imagine a scenario in which the US would not care about the negatives. And at that point it would be a lot simpler to just nuke china to the ground.

Growing up watching burger TV you think that intelligence agents are the good guys but when you read into their history from the black panthers/civil rights/Iraq war abu ghraib torture/etc. you realize that they are mostly just sociopaths. If America was a less warlike imperialist nation half these fucking people would just be serial killers. They are almost literally Ted Bundy with a flag pin label, combined with the smoking guy from the X-files. The fact that they use lie detectors in recruiting probably partially leads to this as a lie detector test as "lie detectors" are more like nervousness detectors and psychopaths don't feel fear which probably leads to them ending up in intelligence agencies at a higher rate than other jobs. It's not just imperialism as a force, I think many of them(agents) are literally sociopaths/psychopaths which is why they have no problem torturing people.
