I know this is supposed to be non-sectarian, but I have noticed a serious problem with this board that is either going to eat it up and doom it to irrelevancy or at least be acknowledged and worked on. There is a very large group of people on this board who constantly do anything they can to be as edgy as possible by engaging in behavior like saying anyone to the left of stalin is just an idealist, or going through as many mental gymnastics as possible to say that countries like China are actually socialist.

I will preface this by saying I've met many principled ML's here who have very solid principles and criticisms of modern politics, but it seems all too common that they're willing to deny that these edgy and terminally online faux socialists are polluting this place with their dogmatism. This is especially manifested by the constant hatred thrown at groups like anarchists and leftcoms who are supposedly included in left unity, but even in the most basic threads outside of USSR or China worship, these people are constantly shat all over as not real leftists.
I don't want this board to become an ideological hugbox, and I enjoy the discourse between different leftist groups, but the fact that obviously mentally ill people dominate the board and get free reign to shit on people that should be considered comrades under the guise of non-sectarianism is seriously killing this place.

This is coming from the bottom of my heart, I really want to see leftypol be something better, but it's really disillusioning when you're relentlessly shat on and called a radlib or anarkiddie for criticizing anything about the hivemind of this board.

tl;dr anarchists and leftcoms are comrades too, and it's really hard to agree with left unity when they're constantly shat on

I'd agree in part, but it doesn't have much to do with "tankies" as such. A lot of online political discourse is essentially empty. People conform to the apparently dominant set of values on a forum, and disguise themselves as if they know something by reinforcing these values. "Marxism-Leninism" is just the latest disguise in a series of disguises by the know-nothings that make up a large part of the culture of online Marxism. Even telling them to read a book is the wrong strategy, because they too often end up over-valuing the one book they've read in years, supposing they read it at all.

Otherwise, I'd agree with >>402818 and take the point further. "Left" and "leftist" mean very little. The labels are most often used to describe positions in the culture war. In "leftist culture" online, they're frequently employed by people wishing to imply some "commonality" between "us" as "leftists," that we're all "fundamentally on the same side."

This rhetorical strategy can be used nefariously by progressive liberals intending to position themselves as political "realists" against socialists as mere "idealists," claiming to be making the "practical leftist choice" as opposed to the "impractical leftism" of the supposed idealists. In short, it becomes a way to disguise differences in principles as differences in practices, individual moral differences rather than political differences. This is also how you get hundreds of videos and essays sincerely talking about the "leftist case" for some bourgeois politician or political party.
>>

 No.404414

The inability and/or unwillingless for the Marxist-Leninists and other dedicated socialists here to distinguish and either correct or expel genuine tankies in their midst is disturbing and is a sign of just how uncritical most leftists actually are.

I wanna understand how that site descended from an obscure mostly liberal imagebboard that could discuss politics with a varied amount of humor to a cesspit of botting, bait and shill posting that's actually more popular than most communities on reddit with a userbase that's so politically 1 sided that it feels like only 1 or a few like minded people browse and run the entire site. Around 70% the catalog of /pol/ in it's current state is anti vax propaganda and the rest is almost exclusive to id/pol/ faggotry, how did that place reach this point and is it possible for them to recover?

Germany got a leader that believed the proper response to a war that killed 15 million people and led to multiple economic crashes all over Europe was the senseless mass slaughter of other europeans and the entire planet and he would go on to trigger a war that would come to kill 60 million people leading to even more economic disasters, multiple human rights violations and a flu outbreak, that same leader was a documented sex offender and now several decades after that horrific event in history broke out a bunch of virgins and druggies in their teens and 20s would go on to worship that bloodthirsty lunatic and commit acts of domestic terrorism often times again towards other europeans as a means of protesting their extremist views hoping to trigger another war that will leave millions dead and potentially 100s of millions of lives ruined….

Good working conditions and innovation have been proven to produce more material wealth at a faster rate than simply working longer hours, a society should strive to maintain a standard work week of no more than 40 hours and invest heavily in technology, henceforth an individual person should avoid working beyond 40 hours like the plague and seek promotions or education if working hours start climbing to a point where they work beyond 40 hours or need to take on multiple jobs to avoid work induced stress and fall into drug addiction. No self respecting man should have to enslave themselves to put food on the table every night nor should have to work their whole lives and neglect important things like family community and country

How is Socialism supposed to be fair? How could it possibly distribute limited goods and services rationally and fairly? Take Caviar for instance, it's a food product with a limited amount of production. Under Socialism, who gets Caviar? You can't possibly distribute and ration a "fair" amount to everybody in a country can you? Who gets Caviar first? Who doesn't get Caviar? Is this fair?

How would Socialism go about making Caviar fair?

Socialists make caviar cheap and affordable to everyone while western caviar eaters screech at them, both USSR and China, for making caviar non-elite food. Funny how it works - while under communism, caviar was in every shop, and everybody preferred fish meat, but now, under capitalism, russians just don't consume caviar almost ever, it's all artificial caviar because there's proletarian culture rituals centered around caviar, but proles can't afford real caviar.

Regarding other points: simply removing capitalists and other parasites from the equation vastly improves distribution of goods in an economy. Not letting financial retards like bitcoin miners or cryptofags to even exist will improve the economy significantly.

What the fuck happened to this place?

I visited this board a few years ago and was totally put off by the retarded leftist talking points. All the radfem, transhumanist shit, black people worship, orange man bad, white peepo bad, etc etc just turned me off. It seemed like an ultra retarded, neo-lib echo chamber. As a result I never really checked this place out too much because my first impression with it was so bad. For whatever reason, a thread on /pol/ got me lurking here a few days ago and I was blown away by the transformation that's happened. Suddenly this place now despises all the neo-lib retardation, and is woke about idpol being used as a weapon to stop people from uniting. There's actual intelligent discussion. There's people with actual enlightened opinions on the shit going down now.

Why/how did this transformation come about? Did leftists suddenly become based? Or did old-school /pol/acks just become woke? I haven't been following any politics very much for the past few years because I was busy getting my degree. Can someone give me a qrd?

Leading Russian Communist politician Grudinin barred from running in election after ex-wife reveals hidden foreign investments
According to Gennady Zyuganov, the Communist Party leader, the decision to bar Grudinin is “illegal, unlawful and abnormal.” This is not the first time the controversial figure has been stopped from entering parliament. In 2019, following the death of MP Zhores Alferov, Grudinin was selected to replace him in the Duma. However, the CEC refused to admit him, citing his foreign bank accounts.

“The increase-parody of the minimum wage is a ‘freeze’ – for another year – at the miserable levels, which were lowered by a government decision a decade ago, abolishing the national collective labour agreement. The government’s announcement is a challenge to the workers,” the Communist Party (KKE) underlined in a statement on Monday. … Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Monday during a cabinet meeting that the minimum wage in Greece will increase by 2 percent.

How Cuba’s Communists Survived the Fall of the Soviet Union: AN INTERVIEW WITH EVEN SANDVIK UNDERLID
Before the July 11 protests, the last major display of public dissent in Cuba came in 1994, early in the “Special Period” of economic hardships following the collapse of the USSR. Since soon after the 1959 revolution, the Eastern Bloc countries had been important allies for Havana, but Mikhail Gorbachev’s 1980s reforms and then the USSR’s final crisis spelled trouble for Cuba at a time of defeats for the Left across Latin America. Yet the revolution survived — also proving that it had sunk deeper roots in society than Eastern Bloc governments. Even Sandvik Underlid is author of Cuba Was Different: Views of the Cuban Communist Party on the Collapse of Soviet and Eastern European Socialism, a study based on extensive interviews with members of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) as well as a systematic examination of the party daily, Granma. He spoke to Jacobin’s David Broder about how Cuban media presented events in Eastern Europe, PCC members’ sense of Cuban “national specificity,” and the changes in the country since the Special Period.

Meet Toka, the Most Dangerous Israeli Spyware Firm You’ve Never Heard Of
This past Sunday, an investigation into the global abuse of spyware developed by veterans of Israeli intelligence Unit 8200 gained widespread attention, as it was revealed that the software – sold to democratic and authoritarian governments alike – had been used to illegally spy on an estimated 50,000 individuals. Among those who had their communications and devices spied on by the software, known as Pegasus, were journalists, human rights activists, business executives, academics and prominent political leaders. Among those targeted political leaders, per reports, were the current leaders of France, Pakistan, South Africa, Egypt, Morocco and Iraq. The abuse of Pegasus software in this very way has been known for several years, though these latest revelations appear to have gained such traction in the mainstream owing to the high number of civilians who have reportedly been surveilled through its use.Post too long. I'm confused about unions. Why do they need to vote from workers to unionize? Why can't they just have a group of people get together and organically negotiate a wage with management? I mean why even call it a union?

If I'm a welder and I'm out drinking with the other workers can I just say "hey everyone let's all agree to have one guy argue for us to the boss to end "certain policy" and if they don't then we will strike" would such a thing be illegal under current American law? Why don't more people do that?

There is almost 0 organizational discussion. There is no tactical discussion: what do now?

One of the most important things is organizing. This can be done by action for shorter workday same wage. You do not even have to mention communism while discussing this. I mean, if a workers do not understand communism and you can't convince him, it does not mean he is not proletariat.

There is very little discussion of this tactics. If there is any, it is superficial.

Most of the discussion on marxism and history of USSR, etc, but there is very little if any, action.

You can popularize short workday (same wage, not lower wage!) by printing posters and gluing them, etc. I do not know, that is the point, to understand something and act.

Anyone can agitate, write essays, videos, comment on the net, organize to make the message visible. Distribute material to workers, etc. The funding will be useful for publishing in a popular journal, for example, but this is not a roadblock.

Shorter workday is beneficial for unemployed, so they can participate too.

I'm reading the book, Free time, by Hunnicutt. The book can be found on libgen. I've jumped to 8 section Less time -> full employment.

Did you know that up to 1956 the movement for shorter workday was wide? Some factories working 6 hours/day. Freedom was seen as less working hours, more free time.

After 1956, government begun pushing for more job, more work, high GDP growth. They used rhetoric such as high GDP growth mean less unemployment. Communists and cold war blah blah, work more. Some of the Union leaders who before that were for shorter workday, begun saying things like: you can work 6 hours/day, but less food.
None true obviously, easy to show.

Organizing for shorter workday, no wage cut, how can I help?

I'm not a worker, I would like to help the movement towards shorter workday (no wage cut). What can I do?

Since I'm not a worker, I decided to do agitation on the internet and may be print and glue posters at public transport, or where it is legal. Am I at the right direction?

For someone new, like myself:

How many hours required? From productivity growth, 4 hours/day, may be less.

I do not see this as a policy but as workers organizing at work place, demanding less hours without wage cut; how to do this depend on the country labor laws.

We should have a thread talking about the greatest soldiers, generals, and military leaders of the worker's cause. There are plenty to talk about Zhukov, Tukhachevsky, Che, but my personal contribution would be August Willich "The Reddest of the Red", a revolutionary leader from the 1848 revolutions, specifically the Baden-Palatinate uprising where Engels served as his aides-de-camp. He was also the leader of the "left faction" of the communist internationale, for many years he was a fierce enemy of Marx (dueling one of his disciples and nearly killing him) but his immigration to the US allowed their relationship to improve. During the Civil War he recruited many German radicals for the union army and became a colonel of the First German and later was made a Brigadier General. He was even wounded during the Atlanta Campaign at the battle of Resaca. To Willich, the civil war had become a revolutionary war and that defeated the CSA and ending slavery would create a massive social revolution in the US that could lead to socialism. IMO had the radical republicans capitalized on their victory and had Johnson not become president then Willich may very well had been correct in seeing the potential of Socialism in the USA. What revolutionary warrior do you most respect?
