 No.349853[View All]

The planet continues to warm and create devastating shifts to the ecosystems across the world.

I've been noticing that each year that goes by without a united approach. The seasons of the year get more and more out of tune to the usual range of expectations.

We need more solar and wind turbines. Please ignore that China, Mongolia and Germany are burning all the coal.

Have you never heard of Thorium nuclear power plants?

Seriously it’s such a obvious solution to the energy problem.

>cut the budget of the infrastructure made to prevent flood

<It's global warming fault.
Good old scapegoat. It's like the forest fire in countries that have cut the budget of forest fire prevention.

No. Fusion reactors are. Thorium reactors are good to fuel 3rd generation nuclear power plants for the next 200 years and we can produce 75% of the energy humanity need with both of them and after that, the fusion reactors will be ready.
But that would solve the problem.
>>

 No.390468

>>390462
Yeah that’s sort of what I meant, that it would be a more immediate short-term solution we can do for now until nuclear fusion gets off the ground.

It's just an outright fabrication. The windmills in Texas were fine, our natural gas pipelines froze and the frozen roads meant the workers needed to constantly maintain them couldn't get there.

So, all the greens and enviromentalists are FOR nuclear energy and ot against, right? They do want to stop climate change, right? They are not just tools of the powerful to reduce our liberties and to justify new taxes, right?

>>390474
Which one? Everyone know that frau Merkel have to burn trillions of tons of coal because she decided to close all the nuclear power plants without any reason. They said they were going to go full wind and sun and butterfly and it turned to be a lie.

We also saw nice pictures of Texans discovering snow and being completely fucked by the green new deal. Sure, one pipeline froze and a nuclear power plant was shut down for maintenance but it was marginal. Being dependent of the weather caused this crisis.

As for China, their objective is to sell us more solar panels and wind turbines. The energy they use to mae them still come from coal and that mean the carbon emission of solar panels is higher than gas power plants.
I guess, by going green they mean they bought some EPR and AP1000 to steal the technology.

Fusion reactors are a completely unnecessary meme. Thorium can be good to fuel molten salt reactors for a few decades while we switch to lunar solar power. We don't need fusion if we go back to the moon.

1: just grow alguas and make them rot to get methane
2: why on the moon and not in orbit? The thousants of m/s needed isn't justified.

>2: why on the moon and not in orbit? The thousants of m/s needed isn't justified.
Because massive amounts of propellant are needed to constantly maintain the orbits of massive amounts of solar satellites. Whereas the moon is already in orbit and you can construct massive amounts of panels entirely from lunar materials. It turns out the thousands of m/sec to reach the moon are totally justified, so energetically favorable that it completely blows out other renewable energy sources.

It frustrating that we cant have clean energy because it's "gay" or some shit. People are being tricked out of energy independence by the lowest common dominator of propaganda. The problem Renewables have is that the U.S hasn't invested in any type of grid battery's and is running off of a barely 20th century power grid.

>>390501
>Because massive amounts of propellant are needed to constantly maintain the orbits
Go play Kerbal. The moon have been orbiting our planets for millions of years, the solar panels will be safe. At the very least, make them orbit the moos so they are in the dark only 1% of the time and not 50%.
>>

 No.390514

>>390506
Who said that solar is gay? We can't have it because it's expensive, it's unreliable and photovoltaic panels are made of materials that are not renewable.
>>

 No.390517

>>390509
In fact it's very difficult to make things orbit the moon stably because of its gravitational anomalies. There are peaks of perpetual light on the moon as well. The gigantic amount of rocket fuel to move the required amount of solar panel mass to actually replace fossil fuel infrastructure into Earth orbit and keep it there may not be worth the cost. But making panels out of the moon itself and beaming the energy back is hugely favorable.

All minerals are renewable they just need to be recycled. Renewable are already cheaper than fossil fuels even without subsidies.

That's why third world countries that simply go cheap because they have no other choice are going full solar.

Is this even about having an idea to you? Because when you start and end your reaction to all this with 'that idea is illness' you're are thoughtlessly reacting just as an emotionally, cognitively flawed type would, the same type who ends up creating a financially and mentally indentured dependent of the tech, pharma, defense, lifestyle and other companies…which most hinder the necessarily collective work of actually halting and reversing the effects of climate change.
