When you have a big budget that is earmarked for shit like this and you lack worthy targets, you just do it with the unworthy targets. I mean what else would you do, give the surplus money back with an honest explanation of the situation and then get a smaller amount in the next budgeting round? Haha.

<US triggers China’s urgency to strengthen nuclear deterrent

>On Monday, The New York Times quoted nuclear weapons experts from the Federation of American Scientists as saying that China has built a new silo for launching nuclear missiles in the Hami prefecture of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. China now owns 110 silos, according to the US media.

>There are two major reasons why some people in the US, and in the West in general, have been talking more and more about China's nuclear weapons. First, the US has made China its main strategic rivalry. As it has adopted various policies to lay siege to China, the risk of strategic confrontation between the two countries has increased. As the US is strengthening its own nuclear weapons arsenal, it naturally assumes that China will do the same. Second, China's economic and technological strength is sufficient beyond doubt to support the expansion of its nuclear weapons arsenal. It would be easy for China to do so if it wanted to.

<The Pentagon's 2020 report to the US Congress assessing China's military capabilities suggested that China would double its warhead stockpile in the next decade. Also, three Republican senators claimed in June that China would have 1,000 nuclear warheads by 2029, achieving some kind of "nuclear parity with the US."

>Obviously, Washington hopes that the current nuclear arsenal gap between the US and China can be maintained for a long time. It also hopes its absolute advantage would help sustain the US strategic offensive and coercive capabilities against China and bolster US confidence and its sense of superiority.

>However, Washington needs to be clear that in an era when China's economic and technological capabilities are abundant, the US' implementation of a policy with strong pressure and the resulting increased risk of a China-US strategic collision will inevitably bring a sense of urgency for China to intensify the building of its nuclear deterrent.

In the same time period the political class in the USSR was already ossified and sought capitalist reform, especially amongst the middle managerial and bureaucratic strata but also amongst those with any real power. In short the Soviet system was much more like a rotting, sick tree. In contrast China was still fairly undeveloped, and had a much less complex economy so it was easier to take that kernel of party control and adapt it to a market economy.
Also China had an advantage of being able to urbanize and proletarianize its massive population whereas Russia's proletarianization was more or less completed.
In short China had lots of room to grow whereas the Soviet system could only be "reformed" by "creative destruction".
Is my vague theorizing about the situation at least.

DAILY CHINA NEWS ROUNDUP:GREAT GAME EDITION

Algeria To Coordinate National Development Plans With China’s Belt And Road Initiative

https://www.silkroadbriefing.com/news/2021/07/27/algeria-to-coordinate-national-development-plans-with-chinas-belt-and-road-initiative/

>Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has concluded his MENA tour – his second this year – with a trip to discuss bilateral matters with the Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and the Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra.

>Wang said that China will continue to provide COVID-19 vaccines to Algeria and promote cooperation in vaccine production to help Algeria overcome the pandemic as soon as is possible.

>Tebboune said that both countries have entered a new stage of development, and they intend to deepen cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, investment, energy, mining, and infrastructure construction under the BRI framework, so to achieve common development which will also benefit other developing countries.

>Both parties agreed to speed up consultations on signing the five-year plan for China-Algeria comprehensive strategic cooperation and the implementation plan for jointly constructing the Belt and Road Initiative.

>China is involved with the development of Algeria’s El Hamdania Central Port, which will be Algeria’s largest and first deep-water port and the second deep-water port in Africa.

>Located 90 miles from Algiers, Algeria envisions the Port of El Hamdania as a regional hub for North Africa in the Mediterranean, competing with Morocco’s Tangier-Med Port.

>It will have a capacity of 25 million tons per year and 23 terminals capable of handling up to 6.5 million 20-foot containers.

>About 1,000 Chinese companies operate in Algeria, assisted by the Algerian Governments waiving of the 51/49 ownership rule (for non-strategic sectors).

>Algerian-China trade has been growing in recent years, with China overtaking France as the largest exporter of goods to the country in 2019.

<My take: The BRI infrastructure game continues, and as it continues i will continue to cover it for you.

US defence secretary Lloyd Austin’s Vietnam visit to focus on maritime cooperation, distrust over wartime history

https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/politics/article/3142868/us-defence-secretary-lloyd-austins-vietnam-visit-focus-security?module=lead_hero_story&pgtype=homepage

>US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin arrived in Vietnam

on Wednesday for talks that are expected to focus heavily on security and military cooperation between the erstwhile enemies, along with Washington’s plan to help Southeast Asia tackle Covid-19 and its post-pandemic recovery.

>Sources say discussions on Thursday between Austin and his counterpart General Phan Van Giang in Hanoi will cover the provision of US coastguard ships to Vietnam for maritime patrols and the possibility of a third American aircraft carrier visit to signal closer strategic ties between the countries.

>They are also expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the legacy of the Vietnam war, which ended in 1975 with the communist victory over South Vietnam and the withdrawal of US troops.

>The MOU will see the United States help Vietnam locate, identify and recover the remains of hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese soldiers who died during the war and are still listed as missing in action, a matter of great emotional significance to their families.

>Analysts said the visit by Austin, a top member of US President Joe Biden’s administration, was meant to underscore Washington’s commitment to strengthening ties with Vietnam.

>Vietnam is among the most vocal opponents of Beijing’s claims in the disputed South China Sea,even as it maintains cordial ties with its largest trading partner.

>Le Hong Hiep, a senior fellow at the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore, said Washington and Hanoi saw each other as important partners.

>“Due to China’s growing assertiveness, the two countries are now increasingly interested in pursuing deeper bilateral defence cooperation, especially in the South China Sea."

>"The visit by Secretary Austin is aimed at driving bilateral relations in that direction,” Hiep said.

>The Biden administration has signalled its intentions to deepen ties with Hanoi, with Marc Knapper, the president’s nominee for the next ambassador to Vietnam, telling a Senate hearing earlier this month that there were hopes to raise their current comprehensive partnership – which encompasses a pledge to work together on a range of issues – to a strategic partnership.

>Dr Pham Quang Minh, former dean of the University for Social Science and Humanities in Hanoi, said there was also a possibility both sides could discuss arms sales or the transfer of military equipment.

<My take: IMHO Vietnam and the Philippines are the two countries whose allegiance could make or break the winner of the Cold War 2.0.

<With this move the US are trying to pull ahead in this game by exploiting the South China sea controversy.
<If this won't be countered China could rapidly find itself encircled.
<That said CPC has still the trade card and maybe some other one to play, so the outcome of all this is not a given.

China pledges support for Taliban in Afghanistan, but demands end to ETIM ties

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/article/3142826/taliban-leader-arrives-china-talks-foreign-minister-wang-yi

>China has pledged support for the Taliban’s role in Afghanistan’s

reconstruction, while demanding that it cuts ties with the East Turkestan Islamic Movement– blamed by Beijing for attacks in its Xinjiang
region.

>Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks during talks with a nine-member delegation led by the Taliban’s chief negotiator and co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in the northern city of Tianjin on Wednesday

>Wang said the withdrawal of US and Nato troops from Afghanistan represented a failure of US policies and called on the Taliban to push for a role in the peace process.

>Wang said China would support Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, but he also demanded the Taliban cut off any connection with the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM).

>Taliban spokesman Mohammad Naeem said the meetings focused on the political, economic and security issues facing the two nations, as well as the peace process.

>He tweeted that the group had assured China that Afghan territory would not be used to threaten the security of other nations, and that China had promised not to interfere in Afghanistan’s affairs but to help build peace and solve problems.

>Despite past support for Uygur militants in Xinjiang, the Taliban has said it will not interfere in China’s internal affairs.

<My take: China scores a massive diplomatic victory with the promise from the Taliban side not to protect and aid ETIM elements in the country.

<Now we gonna see whether the Taliban will keep this promise.

China Seen Ushering in New Era as it Puts Socialism Before Shareholders

Age of reckless capital expansion is over

Most forceful reform in years benefits masses

Carnage in China’s financial markets may signal the beginning of a new era as the government puts socialism before shareholders and regulatory changes rip apart the old playbook.

That’s the view of many investors, who see China’s regulatory crackdowns on tutoring companies, tech and property as a part of the most significant philosophical shift since former leader Deng Xiaoping set development as the ultimate priority more than 40 years ago.

“Chinese entrepreneurs and investors must understand that the age of reckless capital expansion is over,” said Alan Song, founder of private equity firm Harvest Capital. “A new era that prioritises fairness over efficiency has begun.”

Stocks and sentiment have taken a drubbing as Communist Party rulers seek to remake the technology, education and property sectors to curb cost pressures and better serve ordinary people. The new model appears to place common prosperity, as President Xi Jinping has put it, ahead of helter-skelter growth.

Bankers and investors say it was heralded last November when regulators torpedoed the listing of Jack Ma’s fintech Ant Group, publicly clipping Ma’s wings and burning the global funds that had paid up, anticipating a slice of the world’s biggest float.

In the nine months that have passed since, developers, commodity speculators, crypto miners, other tech giants and, lately, tutoring firms, have all faced radical rule changes or had regulators aggressively pouring over their businesses.

The Hang Seng Tech index, launched with fanfare last July and comprising internet darlings-turned-gargantuan blue chips such as Tencent and Alibaba, has cratered 40% since February to record lows.

“The spectre of state intervention into controlling the private sector has created a crescendo of panic-selling,” analysts at investment bank Jefferies said in a note. “The authorities are attempting to reduce social inequality while clamping down on excessive price rises that are undermining the cost of living.”

Zhaopeng Xing, senior China strategist at ANZ, said the raft of policies, unveiled around the Chinese Communist Party’s centenary, underscores the political will to reinforce the Party’s roots.

“These policies were announced to reflect the Party’s progressiveness” and appeal to the masses, Xing said. “They send a message that China is not a capitalistic country, but embraces socialism.”

The messaging in the months running up to the Party’s July 1 centenary was also unequivocal, analysts say. “Common prosperity” is the over-riding long-term goal, Xi said early this year, and China’s development should be centred on people’s expectations of better lives, urban-rural gaps and income gaps.

[…] ‘THREE MOUNTAINS’

Housing, medical and education costs were the “three big mountains” suffocating Chinese families and crowding out their consumption, said Yuan Yuwei, a fund manager at Olympus Hedge Fund Investments, who had shorted developers and education firms.

“This is the most forceful reform I’ve seen over many years, and the most populist one,” Yuan said. ”It benefits the masses at the cost of the richest and the elite groups.”

China population: plunging regional births drive home ‘severity’ of demographic crisis

https://www.scmp.com/economy/china-economy/article/3142738/china-population-plunging-regional-births-drive-home-severity

>The number of newborn babies in China fell sharply in the first half of the year, according to select local government data, amid growing warnings the world’s most populous nation is hurtling towards a demographic crisis.

>China does not release national population data on a quarterly or half-yearly basis, but recent disclosures from some provinces, cities and counties offer fresh insights into the country’s shrinking population.

>In the central province of Henan, the country’s third most populous administrative region, the number of newborns fell 17.9 per cent from a year earlier to 411,000 in the first half of the year, provincial data on newborn disease screening showed.

>The county-level city of Jiaozhou in Shandong, home to the second largest provincial population in China, issued 3,238 birth certificates between January and June, down 11.6 per cent from a year ago, according to government data.

>Some 3,606 babies were born during the first half of 2021 in the county-level city of Changshu in Jiangsu – China’s fourth most populous province and second largest provincial economy – an 11.9 per cent drop from a year earlier, local birth registration figures showed.

>In the mountainous southwestern province of Guizhou, the capital Guiyang saw births fall 4.7 per cent from a year earlier to 21,193, according to municipal statistics.

>Shucheng county in the eastern province of Anhui, meanwhile, saw birth registrations decline by 22.05 per cent in the first six months of the year, according to data from the local police bureau

>“Negative population growth is inevitable, it’s coming soon,” Li Jianxin, a demographer at Peking University, said at a forum in Beijing on Monday.

>China’s seventh national census confirmed the number of new births fell for the fourth consecutive year in 2020.

>The country’s low fertility rate and greying society is likely to affect how competitive it is with countries like the United States and India in the future, Li said.

>China’s changing demographics are likely to put pressure on regions that made development plans based on projections their population would continue growing, he said.

>Chinese mothers gave birth to 12 million babies last year, down by 18 per cent from 2019, closing in on a six-decade low.

>With births on track to hit a new low this year, authorities are rolling out a range of support measures to encourage couples to have more children.

>China recorded a fertility rate of just 1.3 children per woman in 2020, below the rate of 2.1 is needed to maintain a stable population.

>China’s demographic challenges may have also influenced the central government’s recent crackdown on off-campus tutoring firms,as analysts say the growing cost of education is preventing urban families from having more children.

<My take: This crisis is getting worse and worse and probably for China the only way out of this will be SIGNIFICATIVE reforms to guarantee housing healthcare and education for all regardless of income.

<Talk of this kind of reforms is already circulating around, we gotta see what will come in the next months.

As China’s population ages, the world’s factory struggles to recruit young migrant workers

https://www.scmp.com/economy/china-economy/article/3142657/chinas-population-ages-worlds-factory-struggles-recruit-young

>China’s reputation as the factory of the world was built largely on the backs of migrant workers who left their rural hometowns by the tens of millions for opportunities in bustling export hubs

>But for a new generation, labour-intensive factory work no longer has the same appeal.

>“There are about 60 workers in my factory and most of them are in their early 50s,” said Cai, a second-generation businessman who runs Fengrun Electric Lighting in Huzhou, a city in the eastern province of Zhejiang.

>“Most of the workers in factories around the country are in their 40s and 50s now, and it’s rare to see young manufacturing workers.”

>In 2019, the percentage of migrant workers over 50 years old reached 24.6 per cent, more than doubling from 11.4 per cent in 2008, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

>Not only is the migrant workforce ageing, but it is getting smaller, mirroring a broader trend in China’s labour market.

>The growth rate of the migrant worker population peaked at 5.42 per cent in 2010, slowed to 0.84 per cent in 2019, before finally shrinking 1.78 per cent last year, because pandemic-related restrictions forced millions to stay home.

>Although the central government is pushing for automation to fill the gap, many smaller firms cannot afford to replace their workforce with robots, especially if export orders start to slow after the recent pandemic-driven boom.

>In the meantime, increasing automation in factories is exacerbating the labour problem, driving down wages and making factory work even less appealing for younger generations who are uninterested in working gruelling hours for low pay.

>Li Ming, a food courier in the southern export hub of Guangzhou, typifies the negative attitude towards factory work held by many in his generation.

>“I am sick of working six days a week, 10 hours a day in a factory.I will never work as a factory worker like my parents,” said Li, who is in his late 20s and was briefly employed at the same factory as his mum and dad.

>He said his current monthly income is better than what he could earn in his old job and he has more time to play mobile games and spend on social media.

>Disillusionment among young migrant workers is proving a major recruitment challenge for smaller companies.

>Stagnating wages in China’s factories are another major deterrent for young people.

>“Take the digital textile industry as an example. Since October last year, factories have been saturated with orders but the wages of production line workers are lower than in 2018 and 2019,” said Peng Biao, an analyst with Fashionprint.com, which closely monitors supply chains.

>Even as China’s export orders began bouncing back in late 2020, manufacturers were looking to cut risk by automating production.

>The pandemic accelerated the trend, putting even more pressure on factory wages in the process, experts and industry insiders said.

>Labour costs as a proportion of overall factory expenses have dropped by 20 per cent compared to 2019, as more companies launch automated production lines, according to Liu.

>Hu Haifeng, sales manager of Rokae Robotics, said demand for automation is peaking because of the pandemic.

>“It is difficult for me to invest in more industrial robots to replace the rest of my workers.Because if all the production process is automated, it will cause my yield rate to drop a lot,” said Cai, referring to the larger number of defective products produced by automation.

>China had 23.4 million births per year in between 1963 and 1990, helping fuel its rise as a manufacturing power, said Yi Fuxian, a researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a long-standing critic of Beijing’s birth restrictions.

>The country increased its share of global manufacturing exports from 2.5 per cent in 1992 to 19.6 in 2015, Yi said, but that number is on a downward trend.

>A long-term downward trend in exports will undermine the profitability of China’s manufacturing sector, reducing job opportunities for migrant workers and further lowering incomes.

>In the meantime, factories will continue struggling to find enough young people to work their production lines.

You can't do this shit if your state can't provide all the needs your population need. Unrealistic, and it creates a massive black market with pure corruption associated with it, and the people will turn against the government that imposes this crap. So, either your government creates a state where the government can cover all the needs and later suppress the market, or you die as a villain.

><My take: EVERYONE PLEASE READ THIS ARTICLE.

First, China implemented birth restrictions because in China's case quick rise in length of life due to Mao's policies created unsustainable population boom - yes, technologies and proper planning would have mitigated this, but China had neither. Imagine any medieval country suddenly becoming immune to all the pandemics, eradicating infant mortality and so and so forth - with the productive forces they had back then, all this surplus population would have destroyed the economy. That's why all the Western countries presented those birth restriction policies as a crime against humanity. Look at India to see how it works out without restrictions.

Myanmar has direct access to the Indian Ocean, being it west of the Malacca straits.
If a good ports and roads system is built up, this means Chinese goods could go through Yunnan to Myanmar ports, thus directly arriving to the Indian Ocean without passing through Malacca.

Long distance Maglev Cargo trains will become a thing if we can do mass production of reasonable temperature superconductors.
Blowing up train tracks is meaningless, China did a show of force where they mobilized 200 thousand railway builders with a huge number of automated track laying robots and build something like ten thousand kilometers of tracks in a few weeks, in massively parallel construction. You simply can't produce enough ordinance to keep up with this, you will go bankrupt long before china runs out of railway track.

Hey guys, coincidentally I, the anti dengist, have also stumbled upon this thread just now. I must say that I'm a real leftist and what follows is a complete annihilation and destruction of China's "socialist" status.

We know that Marxism is ruthless critique of all that exists, hence why everything that follows is nuanced, but still ruthless, critique of China.

First of all, let's address the least important: China's internal affairs.
We know that there are billionaires and wealth inequality. And since we have a solid universal definition of what socialism is, more exactly: "The abolition of billionaires and wealth inequality", we can say: China is NOT SOCIALIST!
And also we know there are liberal members in the party. Now, we, with our perfect understanding of democratic centralism, the vanguard and dialectics, can, with complete confidence, say that the CPC is a static object. Everyone is either a liberal or a leftist. There is no struggle, and it is completely fair to disregard the socialist side of the struggle while overestimating the importance of the liberal opposition to the point that we can say China is a bourgeois state.

Second of all, the far more important: foreign policy.
Now, you dengists might say foreign policy is just that of trade for maximum speed growth of China, but I assure you, I'm gonna manage to portray it as way more sinister than it is.

2.1: The Jewish Question. China is trading with Israel. China builds helper infrastructure for better trade. China literally supports Israel and apartheid, says fuck Palestinians and everything else is posturing. Even material help. Since they are "helping Palestinians" but actually Palestinians live in Israel, and they are sending resources to them, hence to Israel, China is literally supporting apartheid and zionism.

2.2: Systemic racism. Now, who else was China trading with? That's right, the USA! Should've BDSed them if they wanted to be real socialism.
They were making lead toys and other lead things and selling them to the USA! And we know that lead regulations were poorly enforced in black neighborhoods, making all black folx in the USA retarded.
China is solely responsible for systemic racism in the USA. And you know what? I haven't seen any of you show me a single example of China donating to important black people political figures in the USA, such as BLM. Curious.
Not only is China capitalist, it's also reactionary red fascist! It hasn't contributed a single bit to ending racism worldwide, moreover the fact that it grew so fast made more people racist towards Asians. China should've stayed the shithole it was. And they call themselves "leftist"

It won't be cheap or easy, because china is going to shoot rockets at the blockade the hole time. India isn't going to do anything against China because that would create a Pakistan-China alliance that spells a catastrophic strategic defeat for India that leads to internal political realignment.

Europe will still be able to trade with China even when the US starts a naval war with China. If Europe chooses not to trade with China it will have to build a up a lot of industrial production to make up for it. From a Marxist perspective that isn't a great loss because yay more means of production. And that will not harm China because they can redirect their export output to BRI development, Africa and internal consumption. You also have to understand that if Europe re-industrializes it will become a big block power, that can throw it's weight around as much as the US or China can. Most Arab nations won't care about anything you said, they will trade with who ever as long as it's profitable

CHINA DAILY NEWS ROUNDUP:REASSURING PORKY EDITION

China injects US$4.6 billion of short-term cash to prop up the market after three-day plunge in stocks and bonds

https://www.scmp.com/business/banking-finance/article/3142950/china-injects-30-billion-yuan-short-term-cash-prop-market

>China broke out of its usual pattern of daily liquidity operations by boosting cash injections into the financial system, after the country’s stocks and bonds tanked

on regulatory risks.

>The People’s Bank of China pumped in 30 billion yuan (US$4.6 billion) of liquidity into the financial system with seven-day repurchase agreements, resulting in a net injection of 20 billion yuan on Thursday.

>The move adds to a slew of signs that Beijing is growing uncomfortable with the recent wild swings in the financial markets

>China’s securities regulator was reported to have convened executives of major investment banks on Wednesday night, attempting to restore calm after a recent crackdown on the private education industry.

>State-run media have published a series of articles

suggesting the rout is overdone, while some analysts have speculated government-linked funds have begun intervening to prop up the market.

>It seems the PBOC wants to help restore market confidence after a few days of wild dynamics,” said Zhou Hao, senior emerging markets economist at Commerzbank.

>Interbank borrowing costs declined after the Thursday’s operation.

>The overnight repurchase rate fell 36 basis points to 1.69 per cent, while the seven-day rate declined 17 basis points to 2.23 per cent.

<My take:Literally desperate to appease Porky.

<They even brought out the (mini)poomp

Beijing meets banks to calm frayed nerves after three-day stock market rout wiped out US$800 billion in value

https://www.scmp.com/business/china-business/article/3142941/beijing-meets-banks-restore-calm-after-three-day-stock-rout

>China’s securities regulator convened executives of major investment banks on Wednesday night, in an attempt to ease market fears about Beijing’s crackdown on the private education industry.

>The hastily arranged call, which included attendees from several major international banks, was led by the China Securities Regulatory Commission(CSRC) vice-chairman, Fang Xinghai, people familiar with the matter said, asking not to be named as they were discussing private information.

>China’s official Xinhua News Agency said in an article late on Wednesday that recent policies targeting internet platforms and after-school tutoring were aimed at protecting online data security and social welfare rather than outright curtailing these industries.

>The securities regulator had an “open attitude” toward companies’ listing venues, Xinhua said.

>Wednesday’s reprieve followed a three-day plunge that erased nearly US$800 billion of Chinese equity value, spilling over into everything

from the yuan to the S&P 500 Index and US Treasuries during one of its most extreme phases on Tuesday.

>The losses were triggered by China’s shock decision to ban swathes of its booming tutoring industry from making profits, raising foreign capital and going public.

>It was the government’s most extreme step yet to rein in companies it blames for exacerbating inequality, increasing financial risk and challenging the Communist Party’s grip on key segments of the economy.

>Chinese authorities have a long history of attempting to smooth swings in domestic markets, although their efforts have had mixed success in recent years.

<My take: Literally begging Porky not to disinvest.

<This shit is so tiring.

Beijing assures Chinese firms it remains ‘open’ and ‘supportive’ of public listing overseas

https://www.scmp.com/tech/policy/article/3143059/beijing-assures-chinese-firms-it-remains-open-and-supportive-public

>Beijing has assured Chinese companies that the government remains open to and supportive of public listing overseas, according to a commentary by the official Xinhua News Agency

on Wednesday, as authorities move to ease fears of rattled investors amid a broad crackdown on the country’s technology sector.

>It cited a speech delivered in June by China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) chairman Yi Huiman, who said the country’s securities body is open to initiatives by Chinese companies to list overseas.

>It marks the latest sign that Chinese authorities have become uncomfortable with a sell-off that sent the country’s key stock indexes to the brink of a bear market on Wednesday morning.

>China’s process for approving initial public offerings (IPOs) in foreign capital markets will require an additional layer of oversight,as the cyberspace regulator is being formally inserted into the procedures, according to draft rules proposed by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) earlier this month.

>Hong Kong University’s Zhang indicated that various government agencies have been sending mixed signals about the direction of overseas listings.

>“Power is fragmented within the bureaucracy and different departments are citing their own objectives and missions,” she said.

>Dozens of Chinese companies are currently evaluating whether to proceed with plans to list in the US after China announced the data security reviews and recent crackdowns on the country’s technology sector.

<My take: Nothing to add here.

<It's just pathetic.

There are actually elections for village local officials and the national assembly, and from what people over there have said online some of them can get quite crazy, almost like TV drama series. Ironically, approval ratings of local officials is quite lower than that of the central government, and in that one Infrared video the rapper Xiangyu commented that oftentimes the places which get managed more by the central authorities get to be in more improved state. Additionally, in the villages which run their own village enterprises, the secretary that manages the company's operations is also elected. The upper levels of the government are obviously far less democratic, because the elections for those positionsare carried out by the representatives of the National Congress sort of similar to the Soviets, and not by the direct mass voting system. Arguably, also, the composition of the congresses are more representative than in bourgeois parliamentary systems, because there is a far higher proportion of people in more "typical" workers' sorts of jobs, for example teachers and so, although in the other "chamber", the CPPCC, which reflects the policy of the united front, there are the so called patriotic bourgeois and other not communist elements.

My reply: The U.S. can change parties, but can't seem to change policies. This is viewed as automatically legitimate though. But is that the only measure of legitimacy? How about competency?

It's easy to say the U.S. has a legitimate system because you can change the parties, but if both parties are in the pockets of special interests and big business, then it doesn't matter that much which party is in power. What the voters are given is the illusion of choice.

You should be able to mess around with the closed captioning here to auto-translate it into English (works for me) but this is pretty good at deconstructing the American political system. And at the end, the general conclusion is that the American system's legitimacy is based on "procedures" and it's like this because it represents the interests of capital as the system was designed by a group of landlords. Not news to anyone here though.

I really wish this channel would translate more of their videos. It's like Ted Talks but they'll have one on why Leninism owns or why Hitler was influenced by U.S. racial policies.

Thinking about socialist vanguard uprisings. This is from an opera about Chinese history, and this part in particular is about the Autumn Harvest Uprising of 1927, which occurred all over the country. It was also defeated because it was disorganized, and the Communist Party then reorganized its strategy.

The song rules. The lyrics are also powerful. The opening line is: "There was a thunderbolt, the Autumn Harvest Uprising… following the leader, Chairman Mao, smashing the shackles for liberation! Workers and farmers are united, hold the gun tightly, hey! Hold on tight, heeeey! The revolution is always moving forward!

One of the leaders was also a woman, Li Zhen. She later became the PLA's first female general in the 1950s. Her unit was encircled during the uprising by KMT troops and they ran out of ammunition, and down to five people, they threw themselves off a cliff to avoid being captured. She survived along with one other communist, because she landed in a tree. She was also pregnant at the time and miscarried from her injuries.

Don't waste time already. He won't listen about how many elections by year China has. I already know where those arguments come from, and the only answer is:
The only elections China is not doing are the ones that please the U.S./NATO allies, and their state-controlled media from where you are evangelized to believe they don't have democracy.

Telling the number of elections a year China has, the # of parties participating, the minorities represented in % in the congress, how the Chinese citizens are not afraid of their government, won't change their opinion, nor force them to capitulate the rhetoric.

It's also funny because it's made in a capitalist country so people could say "they're stealing muh intellectual property" or "oh no it's going to corrupt socialism" like anything from the west is bad. But why would it? Is everything from the west "capitalist?" I don't think they care either way:

It is, but what we should focus on is if its positives outweigh the negatives. In the case of China I don't see how it's negative beyond the aspects you mentioned, which can be detrimental to that specific area (in this case it limits artistic expression in chinese society). In that context it is negative but in all other areas I don't see how it's bad. In fact, the way they have implemented it is probably one of the most adequate ways in the context of countries like China which are very ethnically heterogenous; the Chinese constitution recognizes 56 ethnicities in the total Chinese population, I don't know if all get the same amount of cultural autonomy and whatnot (probably not, I think that's more heavily skewed towards the bigger minorities such as Uyghurs or Tibetans) but the fact that they recognize the diversity of the country and unify it through a multiethnic patriotism is probably the best way to go about it.

The truth is all socialist/quasi-socialist countries have had state sponsored patriotism, and if it's implemented properly I really don't see the issue with this policy. It's almost natural for the party and the people to be proud of the achievements they have accomplished so naturally that will relate back to the country and national pride, as in our nation has accomplished this. So while it is idealistic it acts mostly in the benefit of the socialist country and society.

The ethnicities also vary in size and whether they have distinct languages and so forth. Wu Jing, the Wolf Warrior dude (also Wandering Earth), is not actually Han.

He's Manchu.

Surprise, mothafuckaaaas!

But the Manchu as well be Han now because they don't have a Manchu language since Manchu nobles stopped speaking it during the Qing Dynasty and they don't really have much of a distinct culture these days. You can be officially Manchu but I don't think there's any real difference.

Also the Japanese set up a "Manchu" puppet state called Manchukuo and installed Puyi as the puppet emperor, the last Qing emperor who came from Manchu lineage. But the communists didn't execute Puyi, they reeducated him and changed his class status. But I think that was pretty much it for Manchus as a distinct group.

I wonder if it was a colonial divide/rule thing the Japanese were going for? I need to read more about this. The Manchus were not even the majority in Manchuria. But maybe the Japanese empire was trying to create a puppet regime ruled by this minority group like colonial empires have done in many places in the world.

To think the last actual emperor of the de facto Chinese empire (technically not the empire proper since this was just a Japanese puppet after all), but to have this man reeducated into a communist, is fascinating. I believe iirc the story about how they went about it, Mao apparently wanted to execute him, but it was Zhou Enlai who convinced him to reeducate him instead. Really interesting story tbh.

 No.412597

Taiwanese politicians and legal experts are calling for a retired general to be investigated for treason after he uploaded a video urging the nation's military to overthrow the democratically elected government and surrender to China when "D-Day" arrives.

After COVID cases spiked in Taiwan, retired general Kao An-kuo (高安國) decked himself out in camouflage fatigues, wireframe sunglasses, and a blue beret to release a video on June 7 titled, "A letter from the 'General An-kuo Unification Forum' to brothers in the Army, Navy, and Air Force." In the video, Kao alleged that Taiwan's surge in COVID cases was a result of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) blocking the import of vaccines at source and "attempting to use the vaccine to extort money for votes."

He accused the Taiwan government of slandering China and "maliciously rejecting the mainland vaccine." He blamed the new outbreak and deaths on Taiwan's rejection of China's vaccines, and asserted that if the DPP is allowed to continue with its "foolish acts," Taiwan will be reduced to a "hell on Earth."

Kao said that Taiwan lost its military advantage in the 1980s and China's economic boom has led to great advancements in its military strength. He claimed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is no longer the version seen in the 1950s and '60s and called on "brothers from the three armed services" to show "loyalty and filial piety" to China.

He added "the time is right" for generals leading the three branches of Taiwan's military to "stand up and set things right." Kao alleged that Taiwan's "hard-won democracy and freedom have been destroyed by the DPP."

Kao urged Taiwan's generals to rise up "for the sake of national righteousness" and to "save the people of Taiwan from turmoil." In an apparent reference to a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, Kao said that when "D-Day" arrives, Taiwan's armed forces "must respond by overthrowing this DPP scam ring in one fell swoop."

He added the military must also "relieve the people's fear of military rule over Taiwan and the coronavirus pandemic." Further, it should combine with pro-China unification factions to "complete the historical sacred mission of China's unification."

This week, the video made its way onto social media in Taiwan. On Thursday, DPP Legislator Lai Jui-lung (賴瑞隆) said that Kao's words were treasonous because he is calling for surrender to China and that he should be prosecuted for violating the National Security Act (國家安全法), reported FTV News.

Attorney Huang Di-ying (黃帝穎) was cited by SET News as saying that Kao's video is a clearly a breach of the Criminal Code and incites others to commit crimes. Huang said that if Kao is in direct contact with military personnel about the matters he discussed in the video, he may have violated the National Security Act.

Huang called on prosecutors to take the initiative and investigate Kao's actions. He said that after watching the video, he found that Kao had "not only blurred the lines between friend and foe, but he also crossed legal boundaries."

Attorney Shen Ching-chia (沈靖家) told FTV News that a retired general calling on the armed forces to overthrow the government could constitute a violation of Article 153 of the Criminal Code. He added that if he wore an "official military uniform" in the video he could be charged with breaching Article 159 of the Criminal Code.

Contemporary Taiwan isn't what most people assume it is. There is a clear divide between the minority KMT supporters who came to Taiwan in 1949, and the majority Han settlers who came in waves in the previous few hundred years. The KMT are surprisingly pro-China, which actually makes sense if you consider that the CPC pretty much has accomplished everything the KMT was hoping to do. They are Han Chinese nationalists, after all.

The pre-1949 Han settlers who form the base of the Democratic Progressive Party are a textbook case of colonial mentality, and are unique in East Asia for their intense nostalgia for Japanese colonization like their counterparts in Hong Kong longing for the Anglos. This arose because the KMT fleeing to Taiwan were unorganized and paranoid, and ended up killing thousands of Taiwanese due to fears of communist infiltration and establishing a dictatorship under martial law that lasted 30 years. Unfortunately, this has led to a scenario where Japanese men go to Taiwan to prey on basically Taiwanese weeaboo women who will sleep with any Japanese as long as he is Japanese.

One funny note is that the pro-US and pro-Japan Taiwanese independence movement hates China in general, so the people who think "Taiwan is the REAL China" or call China "West Taiwan" are le based insults don't realize it irks these guys.

Many regular Chinese people definitely are Han nationalists and complain all the time about supposed preferential treatment the ethnic minorities and foreigners get. Ask any Chinese person about black people in Guangzhou and you will hear some fucked up opinions.

But the party isn't stupid and knows they will have problems in different regions if they don't have any affirmative action type stuff going on, so it doesn't really matter as long as they can keep a lid on things. Most minorities are treated well and many of the 56 minorities are actually basically assimilated to the point of no recognition at this point.

The Uyghur stuff is dumb-ass shit that Xi (a centrist in the CPC) does to appeal to the right-wing of the party. It could have some internal backlash later on, I wouldn't doubt it, but so far they have managed to keep things under control as far as terrorism and separatism goes.

It's not a genocide though, that is just Western hysteria. However they still do weird shit that can't really be defended unless you're a contrarian Dengoid and/or anti-religious fanatic (as many on this forum are, check any thread about Islam).

>Because the city has a lot of African immigrants. You hear the "BLACKS ARE STEALING OUR GIRLS"

Did you know Tianmen Square happened because of BLACK BULLs fucking chinese women?

>Animosity towards African students began in the 1960s, when scholarships provided by the Chinese government allowed many students from China-friendly African countries to study in Beijing.

> Many of these African students were given larger educational grants than native Chinese students, and hostility towards the Africans was a regular occurrence.

chink incels couldn't cope with fact BLACK BULLs taking all the women so they attacked them but they all got beaten up by TWO BLACK BULLs

>On December 24, 1988 two male African students were entering their campus at Hohai University in Nanjing with two Chinese women. The occasion was a Christmas Eve party. A quarrel between one of the Africans and a Chinese security guard, who had suspected that the women the African students tried to bring into the campus were prostitutes and refused their entry, led to a brawl between the African and Chinese students on the campus which lasted till the morning, leaving 13 students injured.[1]

>The Nanjing protests were groundbreaking dissidence for China and went from solely expressing concern about alleged improprieties by African men to increasingly calling for democracy or human rights.[4]

>some elements of the original protests that started in Nanjing still evident in Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, such as banners proclaiming "Stop Taking Advantage of Chinese Women" even though the vast majority of African students had left the country by that point.[5][6][7]

State Enforced Prostitution of Chinese Girls

University has a zero tolerance policy against Chinese students who are disrespectful to foreign students. Any Chinese student who express resentment of foreign students will be disciplined up to and including expulsion from the University.

“When they got really drunk, they started to tear at our clothes and fondle our breasts. If we tried to resist, they would hit us. Several foreign students took turns slapping my nipples really hard and I was in tears. The party continued until midnight and some [female companions] were so drunk that they had passed out. None of us were allowed to leave until we have all had sex with at least one foreign student.”

In order to encourage more foreign internationals to come to China, and to brand China as a welcoming home for those foreigners, sex between local Chinese women and foreign men is not only tacitly condoned, but openly and actively encouraged, as Chinese national TV frequently showcase beautiful Chinese women being involved in sexual and romantic relationships with foreign men.

“Three of us [female companions] were pushed on the bottom row of their bunker beds, and they took turns having sex with us. None of them used a condom. We felt violated, and wanted to report the incident to the police, but if we did that, the University would have expelled all of us.”

“In order to not make a scene, all of us took morning after pills. There was one really unfortunate girl who didn’t. She was forced to have an abortion, by the University, and it became a campus-wide scandal.”

In a survey, most female graduates of University prefer foreign men as lovers, sex partners, or husbands to local Chinese men. Alumnae to one of the most prestigious universities in China, many went on not only to become highly successful career-women, but also caring housewives to successful foreign men.

Besides this spam, the idea that one ethnicity "owns" their women is a common right-wing trope and very prevalent in China.

The study-buddy shit is simply because more girls are in foreign language programs, whereas the foreign students are an even split between boys and girls, so there is an oversupply of Chinese-girl-to-foreign-boy assignments. They are not at all "forced" to do this nor is it anything akin to prostitution or the likes, this is just Chinese nationalist hysteria.

As more foreigners live in China, their allure also lessens somewhat. In Shanghai it really isn't that impressive anymore to see any foreigners.

China doesn't even do 10% of what the USSR did in terms of aiding communists abroad. Ironically, all the shit they did was helping the likes of Pinochet, the Khmer Rouge, the USA and other assorted figures of this ilk, up until their embassy got bombed and they realized that perhaps the USA isn't the best buddy for them.

They are intentionally withholding any help because it would be bad for business. China won't save you, as much as the Dengoids in this thread would love it.

So many lies to debunk.

>They ALREADY achieved the "moderately prosperous society" goal a few months ago.

No, they did not. You are confusing things. They abolished absolute poverty a few months ago and will try to abolish relative poverty in the near future. The moderately prosperous society is a CPC goal that should coincide with the 100th year anniversary of market reforms, i.e. 2078. This has been laid out in a CPC policy paper. It's not worth the effort of finding the primary source because you Dengoids live in lala-land anyway.

>But China didn't have a regime change like the rest of the former Eastern-bloc did, now did it?! How would you explain the 95million strong communist party, for god's sake?

If you knew anything about China beyond Twitter memes, you would know that the CPC is full of opportunists and careerists, including literal liberals and market-advocates. The fact that China didn't have a regime change doesn't mean shit, they kept the symbols so the peasants don't get pissed off because people there actually still love Mao for the most part. You shouldn't care about symbols and flags and what not like a retard, you should care about the specific policies. They didn't have a regime change because they made a conscious step backwards from socialism in the form of Dengoidism.

The problem of course is that capitalism is a cancer that cannot be negotiated with and spreads uncontrollably unless it is cut out. A cancer cannot be reformed. The property relations and bourgeois wealth accumulation are making genuine socialist mode of production more and more difficult. I do assume that at least a small percentage of the CPC members genuinely want a transition into socialism - but you are fucking naive if you don't think that an equally or even larger percentage of the CPC wants to keep the status quo or even revert into more capitalism. Certainly, the most naive thing is to assume that by 2050, the several hundred billionaires and all their cronies will simply roll over because the party said so - not to mention that many of them are part of the party as well.

China has the remarkable position that its superstructure manages to keep its base in check. How long this can last is a mystery to all of us, and not clear-cut as you Dengoids believe. There is a more-than-zero-chance that the capitalist base gobbles up the socialist superstructure until 2050/2078. To deny this chance even existing is nothing but pure copium.

This, of course, is merely intended to build the productive forces until 2050, so the Dengoids have told me

>Apparently, we can just seize the means of production overnight
are you just going to ignore the fact that's what Mao fucking DID.
>uhm actually the Chinese Civil War took a long time so it wasn't overnight hah-
get fucked and try harder, you know what is meant: the CPC successfully seized the means of production. they're not a plucky little band of Chileans who were elected to office in an already capitalist country. there's a major private sector in China today because they chose to incubate it long after they'd taken power, not because they were stuck with it due to the conditions under which they took power.

not even anti-china, just think you ended on a fucking stupid note
