AMA, I spent a few years in China between the years 2008-2012 as an English teacher among many other jobs. i will answer any and all questions you guys may have about my time and experiences there, please don't move this thread mods.

So like i said in the OP AMA, In my few short years there i considered myself one of the best connected (Guanxi) foreigners in my city. i was very good at making connections with Chinese people and excelled at life there. i had a reputation among the other foreigners and even Chinese people of being highly connected and able to pull strings in many different arenas

What do you mean? immigration into China? there is very little of it compared to the total population. in the city i lived in foreigners were so rare that if you saw each other on the streets and didn't know each other (chances are you did but sometimes you would meet people you didn't know) you would stop and talk to each other. first time i went to shanghai i tried doing that and the other foreigner looked at me like i was insane for trying to talk to him.

>What's like cultural freedom in China?
From my observations cultural freedom and personal freedom in general seems to be even better then America in some respects. the only really no-no thing in China is being anti government in a public forum anti government views among friends are fine and people often critique the direction of the country among friends.

>Do Chinese girls like white/black penis?

From my experience Chinese women are very interested in foreign men. white men are probably the most desirable among chinese women middle eastern dudes seemed to be popular as well. i would often hear how my penis is big from women and men as well (when i was in the public bathhouses chinese men would stare at my cock and give me thumbs up lol) Black and Indian men were the least desired it seems personally i dont think it has to do with whether or not the girls are attracted to them it has more to do with those two groups being seen as "low status/low class" so it would be embarrassing for a Chinese woman to be with one especially if she has high status herself

living conditions can range wildly, your average persons living conditions are significantly worse then the west but not terrible either i would say. the quality of the apartment buildings is quite poor where i was the insulation was very bad so in the summer it was very hot inside and in the winter it was very cold. i got a sense that the people there are much more "connected" to each other then in the west for example it was nice to see late night mahjong sessions between the elderly

>Are foods really dangerous at China?

yes they can be same with products, the quality of consumer goods can range wildly from good to shit to outright dangerous. i bought a kettle once that literally melted the first time i used it and almost burned down my apartment. bought a fake sony dvd player that first time i used it it made grinding noises and fucked up the DVD (it was a 5RMB bootleg DVD) they even have special stores that advertise as selling export only quality goods. there are alot of counterfeit foods some people even sell fake eggs that are made of gelatin and shit.

>What are the biggest social/cultural differences between north and south?

Didn't really notice too much and it would be different based on which part of china you are in but in my part Anhui Province, people from the south were seen as more low class and beijing people were seen as higher class my girlfriend was from anhui but put on a fake beijing accent when she wanted to seem higher class.

>What's like alt-music and subculture scene at there?

didn't really seem to exist its not like the west where you can visibly see different subcultures in the way people dress and stuff. i saw one chinese punk with dyed red hair in my whole time there and i had one friend who larped as a skinhead (with long hair) oi rocker (he got drunk and someone stole his DR martins boots and he cried to me about it)

>Is corruption high at there?

Corruption is incredibly high in all aspects of life its probably the most corrupt place i have ever been to. the rule of law means nothing all that matters is your Guanxi (connections) who you know is what is important and pretty much the only thing thats important when gauging if someone will be successful

My first apartment was supplied to me by my english school, the services i used would probably be hospital and trains. the hospital was weird you had to go to a counter and buy a prepaid credit card and load it with money before you got healthcare, Chinese people get a certain percentage taken off their pay checks and its deposited into a special hospital account for them my girlfriend had thousands on her account so it was a good system i think. they also try to rip you off i got stiches in my hand once after i bottled someone in a car and the bill was 500RMB i ripped it up and threw it in the guys face and he gave me a new bill that was like 40RMB (which was still high) i think he was going to pocket most of the money but after i told him in chinese im not stupid he gave me the 40RMB one. the train system is quite good and runs smooth. the trains are dirty though the lowest priced ticket is called a standing ticket where you dont even get a chair you just wander around the train lol. the bullet train was fucking amazing and super clean and nice. i used to take train rides to hong kong all the time and probably spent like a total of 20 days on trains during my stay there.

Chinese society is ruthless and the social/class divide is much larger in china then in the west. alot of people on this site are retarded and think china is some class less paradise lol nothing could be farther from the truth. social status is also very important in china they call it Mianzi or "face" everything is judged down to the brand of smokes you smoke. the lowest class of society like the homeless beggars are treated like human garbage everyone hates them and even though its against the law you could probably beat one to death in front of a huge crowd and no one would care that you did it and would think its a good thing

Yes, homeless people are quite rare and i think its less of a problem in china then it is in the west. alot of the beggars are professional beggars they treat it like a career. there are whole beggar villages where thats everyones job they rotate and travel around china on begging tours to different cities. they probably come from remote villages and its the only way to keep the village alive. America has a much larger homeless problem then china does though it wouldn't surprise me if homeless in china are kidnapped murdered then have their organs stolen so they are not an eye soar

I dont really have a problem with this. like in the west every retard on twitter thinks their opinion is important and we got literally retards directing social policy like for example the BLM movement is fucking retarded. every place that defunded the police has had sky rocketing crime then they end up hiring more police again. in china the government would say "some criminals life is not important he brought his death on himself by his own criminal actions" the general public is too stupid to have a say in government and how things work. i am totally against democracy where everyone gets a vote. voting should be very difficult with IQ tests and special testing so only a few select people get to vote. like land owners or people who are net contributors to the tax system. the idea that some homeless junkie gets a vote and his say is just as important as a family man with a business is ridiculous to me

I support china's foreign policy and I think the western propaganda about china is bullshit, but China really doesn't seem to me to be either a socialist country, or a very good country. It's just not a worker's state. I'd love to have lived in the ussr, but the greatest accomplishments of the ussr (planned economy, lack of racism, absence of poverty, job security, rights for workers) are basically absent in China. I still prefer them to America though since China isn't an imperialist war machine, and keeps its bad decisions to its own people, rather than exporting its shitty system like America does.

depends on what your social status is, high social status and rich Chinese have a huge amount of power and live like kings in China why wouldn't they go back? some are also probably coerced into going back after they get training in the west. it is very difficult for chinese to get approval to leave the country. you have to go to the public security bureau to get permission to leave and they usually deny you the first time you ask. you usually got to pull strings and bribe people to be able to leave i also suspect many chinese are recruited to work for the Ministry of state security as a prerequisite to be allowed to leave china.

In America because of democracy and hyperbole you got society tearing itself apart at the seems. like democrats and republicans are so caught up in retarded social issues and media controlled narratives that they are ready to literally genocide each other and would gladly do it because "their team" is the right one and the other team is evil

The Chinese seemed to have learned a lot of lessons from Yugoslavia and I think some Chinese policymakers see it as one of the closest comparisons to their own country. They had good relations with them and sent a lot of experts there in the 80s to learn about their own reform process, and didn't think Yugoslavia was centralized enough, the central government was fairly weak, and the economic system was inefficient because they'd duplicate the same factory in different republics for political reasons and not for economic reasons. Once things started going haywire, ethnic / national chauvinism tore the country apart in a feedback loop where it's like "if you kill me then I'll kill you" and so on. Or if someone from X groups does something bad that is an indictment of the whole group in the eyes of another group. The Chinese drop bricks on any kind of separatist stuff but I think the government makes pains to emphasize that they're against a minority of terrorists and "all 56 ethnic groups are united against them" and so on.

so, for those of us here, it is piss easy. they are desperate for teachers because of corona entry restrictions and we've been able to ask for wildly higher wages and benefits as a result.
however for you, its gonna be impossible. getting outta the country is fine but they are restricting the amount of foreigners coming in. the talk of the town is the government wants to transition away from foreigners teaching English and get their domestic English speakers to teach English. (which clearly is batshit) however another reason they are restricting the amount of visas being renewed and the types of jobs laowais can get is because they recently raised the amount of kids you can have to 3 to try and curb the demographics problem they have.
unfortunately, because wages are low and work hours stupidly long no one wants to have more than the one kid that is necessary to stop their parents heckling them with dumb confucian morality.
as such, they are placing all sorts of restrictions on "training centers". these are afterschool English schools that to "bring up a kid properly" to be competitive in the chinese education system, parents are effectively required to pay for.
these fuckers are EXPENSIVE. most chinese i know make like 5-8k rmb per month. these classes can cost thousands a month.

as a result the government is putting such harsh regulations on them that they essentially have to close. all my friends who were in training centers are looking for new jobs, or have them. likely theyll move to kindergartens.
this is hoped to reduce the financial burden on families and hopefully allow for more kids. personally im just happy the.kids get to have afternoons relaxing, or atleast the possibility of it

the.metal scene here is good. i hear theres a thriving reggae scene in Chengdu and the music i was shown was really good.
heaps of art, art shows concerts etc. honestly theres such amazing cultural shit here. also, booze is cheap.

Sleeping with chinese women is extremely easy. you are exotic and crucially, you are going to have to leave, so the crazy.intense relationship pressure doesnt apply to anything you and them would engage in.

OP here, i had to do something now im back. i never said they are souless bug men i just mean they got less empathy and seem to mind their own business more then in the west. example i was in a bar with my girlfriend and she met a chinese guy who worked for the military he was designing a guidance chip for airplanes and he fucked it up twice so they put him in jail for a month as punishment (thats what he told her) so his girlfriend broke up with him and he was sad and we were drinking with him to cheer him up. a table across from us was talking about some incident in the sea of japan i think and they were arguing about it and the guy we were with got up and told the guys they were stupid and should shut up. one of the guys (i think they were gangster types) walked over and started repeatedly punching him in the face like 15-20 punchs the guy we were with fell out of the chair and started having a seizure. no one did anything to help him my girlfriend wanted to leave the restaurant i made us take him to the hospital. she told me if he dies or something we can get blamed so its better to just ignore him and leave the restaurant. thats why you see videos of chinese hitting people with cars and no one helps them. chinese by and large are good people its just a different culture where people mind their own business

Stop buying cheap shit. 100% all the corruption you experienced were chinese exploiting westoid naivete. Westoid, however, in his hubris, thought that it were chinese who are barbarians.

I'll give you guys an actual lifehack that will explain all the cultural differences with the West in China. You see, China had a REVOLUTION! Culture changed irrevokably there. Even after 30 years of capitalism Eastern Europe's people are still socialist-minded, and that gets reported as "corruption", "backwardness", or outright some kind of "communist brainrot". All the cultural differences are just that, they are socialist people, or as westoids said - collectivist. Socialist culture is vastly superior to capitalist one (that's why 30 years later capitalist influences still can't really win in Eastern Europe), so westoids just don't get it, they can't grasp it. Russkies, however, need one look at anything and they immediately understand what's what. Corruption? Dude, it's not China that has legalized lobbying! Stealing from the state is one thing, buying officials' services is the same retarded shit as lobbying, but the prevalent kind of corruption in Eastern Europe is people giving officials fucking gifts for doing their jobs.

>The Chinese seemed to have learned a lot of lessons from Yugoslavia

Yes, they learned from Yugoslavia not to be Yugoslavia. Rather than having phoney cooperatives better let people open actual private enterprise and prevent ultras from taking over the economy through state mechanisms. Similar kind of observation as they've made in late USSR. Letting people to get rich and accumulate property is paramount to beating trotskyism.
