For instance, consider American "centrists" (neoliberal Democrats and RINOs) who, due to their opposition to basic social-democratic reforms like single-payer healthcare, are actually extremely far to the right of the global political spectrum. Likewise, a Cuban centrist (ie affiliating neither with market "reformers" nor hardliners) would still be decisively far-left on a global scale. Centrism has no basis in intellectual reason nor in any sort of broader intellectual perspective, all it cares about is not being bothered with actually getting invested in politics or having consistent principles.
