>Tunisia’s president has announced the suspension of the Tunisian parliament and the dismissal of Prime Minister Hicham Mechichi after violent protests broke out in several Tunisian cities over the government’s handling of the COVID pandemic and the economy.

>President Kais Saied said on Sunday he would assume executive authority with the assistance of a new prime minister, prompting the biggest challenge yet to a 2014 constitution that split powers between president, prime minister and parliament.

Is this good news for socialism or nah

Probably a nothingburger.
That said,as of now i see Tunisia as the nation in Maghreb in which a strong socialist movement is more likely to arise.

It seems the side which got fucked up is the one related to the Muslim Bortherhood, in favor to the opposing side of the bouregoisie (which i got no idea who does represent precisely).

Also this is the 4th coup-tier manoeuvre of 2021 iirc after Myanmar Mali and Chad.

We got more and more countries facing serious political instability right at the same time.
Is something bigger slowly brewing?

>Some bodies of COVID-19 victims have been left lying in rooms next to other patients for up to 24 hours because there was not enough staff to organise their transfer to overstretched mortuaries.
I hope nobody wonders why I rage and want to curb stomp anyone saying COVID is a "nothingburger".

You forgot Moise, Cuban protests

>Is something bigger slowly brewing?

We'll witness a global revolution against governments…
But does that mean that the last remaining communist governments are going to fall like dominoes?

This country could sink into fucking ocean and no one would realise.
I've unironically not heard a single news article come out of this place in like the last decade (since arab spring)

The populist party and the ML one condemn what happened yesterday.

It seems that support in the country is not complete for yesterday's power grab.

Al Jazeera offices raided and all their journalists expelled.
They're going all out against the Muslim Brotherhood it seems.

Tunisian here
Our main communist party is cucked beyond belief they would rather side with radical islamists then with people's demands even though they assassinated 2 leftist leaders..they got 0.01% last election so they're irrelevant and the other ML party who has a representative in the parliament fully supports the "coup"

The battle here is gaddafi-style populism vs liberal parliamentary "democracy" supported by elites and modern western-style islamists who will turn jihadists if you provoke them

Our streets are flooded with young people carrying communist banners who support the president but you won't see that in media they only show the 20 boomers protesting against the so called coup .. And since when is a president elected with +3million votes firing a non-elected prime minister considered a coup

Here it says that Turkey could get fucked by this coup.
At least that's a bit of good news.
