These books will change your life. Read them.

<1. Capital, Vol. I | Karl Marx

The classpill. Discover the extent to how the bourgeosie exploit you. NOTE: I wouldn't recommend reading it in its entirety as Marx was a shit writer and Capital is completely disorganized. Perhaps pick up the David Harvey companion book and jump around with Capital as if it was a textbook. Also, don't bother with Vols. II and III, those are just for the autists.

<2. The Unique and Its Property | Marx Stirner

The egopill. Eliminate your spooks, be your Unique. Or, in layman's terms, be gay and do crime.

<3. The Society of the Spectacle | Guy Debord

The situationistpill. The book examines the “Spectacle,” Debord’s term for the everyday manifestation of capitalist-driven phenomena; advertising, television, film, and celebrity. Everything about capitalist society starts to make much more sense after reading this.

<4. Capitalist Realism | Mark Fischer

The doomerpill. Or, as I like to call it, the realistpill. From wikipedia because I got lazy:

"According to Fisher, capitalist realism has so captured public thought that the idea of anti-capitalism no longer acts as the antithesis to capitalism. Instead, it is deployed as a means for reinforcing capitalism. This is done through media which aims to provide a safe means of consuming anti-capitalist ideas without actually challenging the system. The lack of coherent alternatives, as presented through the lens of capitalist realism, leads many anti-capitalist movements to cease targeting the end of capitalism, but instead to mitigate its worst effects, often through individual consumption-based activities such as Product Red.[3]"

<5. Desert | Anonymous

The postciv pill. Realize that the only way we will ever be "free" is after ecological collapse and Mad Maxxing away from the state. It'll be fun!

Congratulations, you are now a depressed post-left anarchist making shitposts on /leftypol/ and conteplating an heroing. Maybe don't read and just be a normie…maybe you'll be happier that way.

Humans naturally learn through observation and archiving important information

Reading to get smarter is for midwit subhumans that not only cant think for themselves but would die without the benefits of civilization to secure their lifestyle habits

A piece of fucking text describing the ideas of god knows who doesnt suddenly turn you into a supreme master of knowledge

You wanna know what you'll change about the world when you put flip the first page of the book FUCKING NOTHING

Reading more is cope, actually apply your ideas faggot and if nothing you wanted happens than that means your a fucking dumbass and theres nothing you can do about it because the universe is to big to give a shit about your pathetic and temporary existence

>I wouldn't recommend reading it in its entirety as Marx was a shit writer and Capital is completely disorganized.
It's not and I don't get why people always say that. Marx wasn't a bad writer, I enjoy reading his prose.
>Also, don't bother with Vols. II and III, those are just for the autists.
It doesn't surprise me an anarchist doesn't like Vol. III where Marx goes into the details of historical process of capitalism's genesis and sketches out some vague roadmaps through which it may be sublated. Vol. III is the most "tankie" volume of Capital.
>The egopill. Eliminate your spooks, be your Unique. Or, in layman's terms, be gay and do crime.
Is there anything to gain from it outside of hedonistic individualism? This honestly sounds like a sales pitch for a self-help book.
>The book examines the “Spectacle,” Debord’s term for the everyday manifestation of capitalist-driven phenomena; advertising, television, film, and celebrity.
Are you sure you are not talking about Adorno's essays about the culture industry? I always felt like the Situationists (who still exist by the way, in a largely de-politicized form) are more of an art project and their theory reflects that. They spent a lot of time projecting those societal ills of advertisement, culture, etc. onto the USSR and China as well.
>Capitalist Realism
If you like left-com prose, go with Hinterlands instead. It's a lot less scatterbrained and doesn't feel too "Žižekian". Children of Men is a good movie though.

Yes, that's true: the elites recognized that an intellectually empowered working class was highly dangerous so now they utilize three or four different methods to dampen said threat:
1) Defunding or privatizing the education system so that more people slip through the gaps and don't get what they need.
2) Keeping watch over the best and brightest as they ascend school rankings, and offering them rewards (monetary, companionship, prestige, etc.) or threats (blackmail, fake scandals, etc.) to keep them in line. The smartest are the most dangerous so they should be either bribed or threatened to stay in line - there are occasional dissenters but the majority are either too happy with their elite position or too scared to fight back.
3) Funding trivial entertainment on a mass and affordable scale. Organized televised sports, game consoles, phones, ipads, etc. they all have the ulterior purpose of shortening attention spans, distracting people from thinking about their situation, etc.
4) In case there are any autists who would still like to learn and are inherently paranoid to the point that they do not trust mainstream narratives - flood all information sources with an avalanche of competing narratives so that even when someone is looking into a topic they no longer know which source to trust or what piece of evidence to weigh higher than others.

However all this ignores the larger point, that is: the fact that so much effort has to be expended in this way to divert so many potential would-be revolutionaries is proof that said education and said learning is worth defending.

First off, people spoke differently in the 19th century, especially when they were educated. I'm pretty sure if you heard an English worker in 1840 you'd also think that this sounds pretentious because it sounds old-timey.

Secondly, you should read his more accessible works, like "Wage, Price and Profit" which are for absolute beginners and they are astoundingly accessible. Also

You realize the Debord borrowed plenty of his ideas from Hegel and Marx. One of Debord's key arguments was that the proletariat's relationship with Commodities seems more significant that the proletariat's relation with the MoP. We spend a significant portion of our life at work (relation with MoP) and an even greater time consuming commodities (TV & Internet). Work and entertainment are both intrusions of Capital into our daily lives. If you want to fully understand Debord and the Situationists, you need to read some Hegel, Marx, Lukacs and (maybe) Deleuze.
