This foreigner doesn’t know what he’s talking about, as he has been deceived by pro-government propaganda. I am CUBAN, I myself have STOOD GUARD during “voting” as seen at 1:19. I was one of those students, who always wanted to volunteer, who happily and gladly said “I want to be like el Che.”
This supposed impartiality from the part of the government is false, there is no actual way of removing those in power, and the people of cuba are NOT in favor of the communist government.
It is true that Cuba lived under a dictatorship before Castro, but even that is way more favorable than the system they have today. Even my grandfather, an avid communist once commented to me that nothing in Cuba works. That comes from a man who would die for communism.
Cuba does not care about it’s own people, my uncle is a retired major, a leading scientist in cuba, he lived in sub-par conditions compared to the rest of the world. And the husband of my cousin, THE HEAD OF CUBAN SPECIAL FORCES, a retired COLONEL, currently LIVES in a SHITHOLE because the government didn’t need him anymore. My grandmother is forced to make money on the side selling what she can from foreign products because she can’t afford anything with her retirement, and she is another veteran who has given many years of her life and a deployment to Angola. She stands in line for HOURS just to see what is for sale. Many times there is nothing useful she can buy, and the things that are available are often too expensive.
My father, a university graduate, received a “free” education. He didn’t have to pay with money, but with years of chattel slavery in the military, where they forced him to work the fields in barely reachable quotas.
My cousin, a lad of 20, is struggling to make a living even in his youth. He has no opportunities do do what he wants in life, and is stuck in a shitty country.
I was born in Cuba and am blessed enough to have a family that was dedicated to leaving the country, and so I left at age 9.
I have NOTHING to thank the revolution for, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
