“The Left IS Platonic (Western) Civilization” by William StracheyIntroductionGeneralThe most atrocious defamation against the Left by not only rightists, but also, backstabbing left-liberals consists of the imputation that its objective is to destroy “Western civilization”, generally articulated in nebulous, ahistorical, immaterial or worse in racial or ethnic terms. This false and intellectually degenerate imputation has been seized upon, variously by Nazis, socdems, Burkeans and other mentally maimed, intellectual cripples in texts like The Open Society and Its Enemies by Popper and The Black Book of Communism by the traitorous, faithless dog Stéphane Courtois to smear revolutionary movements in general and Marxism-Leninism in particular as negations of civilization. The purpose of this defamation is to weaken the absolute resolve and conviction of the true left, to confuse, demoralize, silence its absolute mission and to isolate, ridicule and besiege the Left. Further defined, the Left itself is the Platonic project – and Plato is the core of “Western” civilization -, of which the objective is affect the Form of the Good (that is, Goodness itself) which is the universal transformation of philosophers-in-training into philosopher-kings of all peoples. It is arguable that leftism and abstract goodness itself are synonymous and thus the defamation of the Left is therefore the defamation of goodness itself – this would be for another paper.
ThesisIn response to this blackest of defamation and for that the Left is in fact Platonic (Western) Civilization itself, this essay argues five points 1) from the First World War, to Operation Barbarossa, to Operation Condor and American imperialism in general, it is in fact the rightists, centrists and left-liberals that are the negation of Platonic (Western) Civilization and therefore, by process of elimination, it is the Left that is Platonic (Western) Civilization 2) that Evolism and Spenglerism of the Right betrayed the Platonic project (synonymous with Platonic Civilization), respectively in favour of the Vedic and the Apollonian ones, again by process of elimination leaving the Left to become Platonic civilization 3) because anti-leftists Karl Popper and Stephane Courtois threw Plato’s tradition to the left, they cannot claim Platonic civilization and it is in fact only the left that can 4) that wherever the Left has been allowed and compelled to do its work, it has brought civilizations that have subsumed this Platonic project back from the brink to new heights of power, in particular from the French Revolutionary Wars, the Kingdom of France to Revolutionary France, from the Russian Civil War and WWI, the Russian Empire to the Soviet Union, from the Opium Wars, the Sino-Japanese Wars, the Qing dynasty to the People’s Republic of China. Additionally, from those dire straits, the Left alone has rejuvenated those direly crippled civilizations, effectively reviving them as Platonic fusion-civilizations. Thus, the Left itself is Platonic (Western) Civilization. 5) Although the French, October and Chinese Revolutions were never Hellenic-Greek, they all demonstrably lived up to Plato’s ideals. Thus, the Left itself is Platonic (Western) Civilization and the People’s Republic of China is the true form of Platonic (Western) Civilization that Mohandas Gandhi said would be a good idea, currently on the planet.
Body1 – Rightist, centrist, left-liberal negation of Platonic Civilization and the Left as Platonic CivilizationThe right, centre and left-liberals are in fact most responsible for the destruction of so-called “Western Civilization” (i.e. Platonic Civilization) and by process of elimination and by defence of Platonic Civilization, the left itself is Platonic Civilization. Where political wings or factions are chiefly responsible for the degradation and destruction of said civilization, the wing/faction that opposes that degradation and destruction is that civilization itself. Inducing this, consider that the Huns of Attila degraded and destroyed Roman civilization – thus they were not Roman civilization, rather the Western Roman Empire was Roman civilization itself. Further, the Mongols degraded and destroyed Persian civilization – thus they were not Persian civilization, rather the Khwarezmids which resisited in vain were Persian civilization. Additionally, the East India Company degraded and destroyed Indian civilization and so could not have been Indian civilization – rather, the Mughals and Maratha were Indian civilization. The rule therefore is that political factions chiefly responsible for the degradation of destruction of a particular civilization cannot be that civilization and rather it is those political factions which resist that degradation and destruction which are those civilizations themselves. To this rule, consider that historically speaking and in the present, it is the global right that is responsible for the destruction of Western Civilization. For example, examine the destruction caused by Operation Barbarossa by the German Reich – of whom Goebbels wished to undo the 1789 French Revolution - “The combined damage consisted of complete or partial destruction of 1,710 cities and towns, 70,000 villages/hamlets, 2,508 church buildings, 31,850 industrial establishments, 64,000 kilometres (40,000 mi) of railroad, 4,100 railroad stations, 40,000 hospitals, 84,000 schools, and 43,000 public libraries; leaving 25 million homeless. Seven million horses, 17 million cattle, 20 million pigs, 27 million sheep were also slaughtered or driven off. ” Note well, 40000 hospitals, 84000 schools and 43000 libraries! Examine the current capitalist-related climate change crisis which has caused massive flood destruction in Europe and the 2019-2020 bushfire season in Australia, the inevitable outcome of years of Labor neoliberal and Liberal climate change mismanagement . Furthermore, consider the Pinochet-era book burnings in Cuba as an element more generally of Operation Condor. The anti-literacy tendency from Barbarossa to Condor, the physical destruction wreaked by Barbarossa and the Climate Crisis all point to a general tendency of non-Left elements of sabotaging and wrecking the Transformation of Philosopher-in-Training to Philosopher-King which forms the core of Platonic civilization, of the Form of the Good itself . No books, no schools, no Transformation, no civilization. In extreme contrast, consider the Likbez of the Soviet Union, which from the old 1897 Tsarist literacy rate of 24% of the total population, raised it to 89.7% by 1939 and 100% by 1950 . To read is to inevitably philosophise and learn, to have knowledge is to have power and to have such power is to approximate the Philosopher-King and in this realization, Plato’s Good manifests itself. Additionally, consider the sentiment that simplified Chinese characters rapidly reduced illiteracy in mainland China and how from 1959 with a literacy rate of 77% to 1962, the Cuban literacy campaign increased the literacy rate to 96% - three short years and Cuba became a virtually fully literate country , contrasted with the gruesome 50 years it took from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Paraguay to drag themselves from 44-92, 60-91, 70-94, 73-94 all a Latin American median of 94% literacy. Literacy and philosophy, so instrumental to the Transformation of Philosopher-in-training to Philosopher-King, is not only neglected by the non-Left, but is actively and brutally sabotage by it. To sabotage this transformation is to negate the Form of the Good, which in turn is to wreck and sabotage Platonic Civilization itself, leaving the Left to be Platonic (Western) Civilization.
2) Rightist betrayal of Platonic Civilization for the reactionary Vedic and Apollonian projects and the Left’s maintenance of the Platonic one.Evola’s and Spengler’s theories betray the Platonic project in favour of, respectively, a particularly filthy, unhygienic and faecal reactionary-Vedic one and a suicidal, brutal, slavish, servile, submissive Apollonian one and in their betrayal, the Left becomes Platonic civilization. Where theorists of a political wing betray the original context of the civilization for rootless, reactionary mysticism or a brutal atavistic distortion of that civilization, the political wing opposed to their betrayal is that civilization. In particular, Evola (Poovola) betrays the Platonic transformatic project for the vile casteist Vedic one, one which has realized itself under Mahendra Modi in the form of open defecation , cow faeces cures and Delta COVID – personally and severely invectively against “modern” India, one would throw the string of phrases “poo poo pee pee, Delta COVID farty farty, shit-in-the-streets poo-in-the-loo-pajeets” – returning to Evola, in particular in his “Revolt against the Modern World” (it is certainly revolting to the nose at least) it is absolutely striking how Evola describes and illustrates his ideal civilization in the form of elitist xenophobia (“outcastes and barbarians”), eco-fascism (“Earth will be venerated but for its mineral treasures”), sumptuary restrictions (“Brahmanical clothes will constitute a Brahman ”), superstitious fideism (“In the Kali age men corrupted by unbelievers…”), rigid traditionalism (“ Observance of caste, order and institutes…”), feudal anti-commerciality (“ He who gives away much money will be the master of men and family descent will no longer be a title of supremacy”), repressive self-denial (“Men will fix their desires upon riches, even though dishonestly acquired.”), patriarchy (“The women will pay no attention to the commands of their husbands or parents”), idealism (“Men having deviated into heresy, iniquity will flourish, and the duration of life will therefore decrease”) and millenarianism (“When the practices taught by the Vedas and the institutes of law shall nearly have ceased, and the close of the Kali age shall be nigh, a portion of that divine being who exists of his own spiritual nature in the character of Brahma, and who is the beginning and the end, and who comprehends all things, shall descend upon the earth. ”) all the while denouncing modern hygiene (“from the case of artificial "devices" to prolong life (which is meaningless and just a parody of the first type of life), realized through the means of profane science and modern hygiene”). This dull, primitive and above all stinky vision is what constitutes “tradition” for Evola, far, far from the Platonic project. The nature of Spengler’s betrayal, rather than to exclusively look elsewhere, is to look inwardly, to mislabel and to be a nihilist. He brands falsely, divides mistakenly what is really the Platonic project into the Apollonian and Faustian one. In reality, they are almost one and the same. Considering Spengler’s own irrationalism, it is not particularly necessary to engage much with his pessimism in good faith ("We no longer believe in the power of reason over life. We feel that it is life which dominates reason." ), so against his irrationality there only needs to be invective and derision. Spengler can only conceive of classical antiquity as a sort of Garden of Eden, a gilded prison of the human species (“the Classical/Apollonian as well-ordered aggregates of bodily forms beneath a corporeal vault of the heavens”) valuing aesthetics over substance (“The classical temple is an architectural body of ordered elements, optically graspable in a single glance, designed as a completely exterior experience for the eye”). Likewise, Spengler can only conceive of modernity as some empty void bereft of meaning (“The Western/Faustian mind perceives the universe as infinite space”). Perhaps Spengler is even articulating the normative (should-be, ought) in his analysis of the positive (the is) as he prophesies the end of the later Platonic project (“In the end, Faustian Culture, like all that lives, must pass away. “Even our machine technics, which seems so imperishable, a contribution to the history of civilization, will end with the Faustian civilization and one day will lie in fragments, forgotten — our railways and steamships as dead as the Roman roads and the Chinese wall, our giant cities and skyscrapers in ruins like old Memphis and Babylon.”). Indeed, Spengler revels in the sublime, the grim and in Thanatos, the worst fusion of de Maistre and Burke possible (“We are born into this time and must bravely follow the path to the destined end. Our duty is to hold on to the lost position, without hope, without rescue, like that Roman soldier whose bones were found in front of a door in Pompeii, who, during the eruption of Vesuvius, died at his post because they forgot to relieve him. That is greatness. That is what it means to be a thoroughbred. The honorable end is the one thing that cannot be taken from a man. ”), a slavish, impotent, suicidal worldview. The theosophist (Evola) and the Sonderkommando-Mischling (Spengler was the maternal great-grandson of a Jewish woman Braünchen Moses and he intellectually threw the Jews into the ovens with his political theory, voting for Hitler) are both traitors to Plato’s project, albeit their betrayals are in different forms. The former looks to the Subcontinent and imagines spiritual hygiene amidst physical filth whereas the latter gazes at the navel and sees nothing, respectively an orientalist and a nihilist. The failure of the latter is worse for in falsely distinguishing between the so-called “Apollonian” and “Faustian” one, he has not seen how Plato’s philosophy was the drill which broke through the vault. Idealistic renegades both Evola and Spengler are – one looks at the filthy Ganges to mire the Platonic project in its filth (the swastikas of Hindutva and Nazism are no coincidence), whereas the other stares at the project with an evil eye to destroy it from within. With such treason to Kallipolis in rightism, it very probably follows that the non-right – the Left must be the project of Platonic Civilization.
3) Left-liberal and neoconservative denunciation of Plato as a proto-leftist making the left become Platonic civilizationKarl Popper, a former member of the Social Democratic Party of Austria and Stephane Courtois, a former member of Vive le Revolution/ Vive communism, both traitors to the Left cause, intellectually maimed by their failures in the interbellum and May 1968 protests, both noticeably denounce Plato in “The Open Society and its Enemies” and “The Black Book of Communism” respectively. To denounce particular philosophers as the forefathers of a political wing effectively freely gives those philosophers to that political wings, thereby making the condemned political wing the guardians of all that philosopher stood for. The first volume of “The Open Society and its Enemies” is in fact dedicated to defaming Plato. Implicitly, Popper equates Plato with Joseph Goebbels: “Plato thus became, unconsciously, the pioneer of the many propagandists who, often in good faith, developed the technique of appealing to moral, humanitarian sentiments, for anti-humanitarian, immoral purposes ”. The prima facie absurdity of equating the philosopher Plato and the propagandist Goebbels makes critique redundant – all that needs to be known is that Popper has negated the central philosopher of Platonic civilization. Likewise, Courtois, rambling on, states in The Black Book of Communism “As a political philosophy, communism has existed for centuries, even millennia. Was it not Plato who in his Republic introduced the concept of an ideal city, in which people would not be corrupted by money and power and in which wisdom, reason, and justice would prevail?” In fact, the author did not even pay any particular attention to Plato before Popper’s and Courtois’ unsightly smears of him as a proto-communist egregiously connected Plato to Marxism-Leninism. However, if the goal of Popper and Courtois is to negate Plato himself and throw him to us the Left, as if it we were dogs ready to devour him, then the Left ought to heartily accept the challenge and not only that, the Left ought to benefit from that defamation. For by their own slander and libel, Popper the left-liberal and Courtois the neoconservative have thrown Plato, the central philosopher of Platonic (Western) Civilization to the Left dogs. Diogenes, the ruthless critic of Plato, is now accompanied by the latter. The Diogenic proto-left of critique and the Plato which Diogenes critiqued are now living in the same hovel. Popper and Courtois, themselves dogs to the cause, have thrown Plato to the dogs which they betrayed. And so the Left-dogs, the philosophers’ best friend do not rabidly consume Plato, but are now Plato’s dogs. “One man’s trash is another’s treasure” – they trashed Plato, thus we treasure him. The Left is now the guardian of Platonic (Western) Civilization, because the renegade left-liberals and neoconservatives have negated him – Plato’s house is the Left and the Left is Plato’s house, Plato’s civilization, “the West”.
4) The revolutionary Left in power, the phoenix-like rejuvenation of moribund civilizations under it and the Platonic Transformation of Philosophers-in-training to Philosopher-KingsWhen revolutionary left organisations seized power in the failing Kingdom of France, the Russian Empire and the old Republic of China, they generally rejuvenated those otherwise failing civilizations and societies according to the Platonic Transformation of Philosophers-in-training to Philosopher-Kings. A political wing that repeatedly effects this transformation for the greater good can only be Platonic (Western) Civilization itself. The Kingdom of France, which in 1792 was mired in famine, debt and geopolitical encirclement by not only Britain, but by the Habsburg Austrians, the Prussians and Vendean traitors from within, was able to resist for a valiant 22 years until 1814 all the while abolishing feudalism and to this day, the Napoleonic Code remains carved in the lawbooks of Europe. The struggle of Robespierre was not in vain – indeed the French Revolution remains deeply associated with philosophy with the philosophes of the Enlightenment. Furthermore, the revolution promulgated worldwide, in substance, the first mass explorations of the ideals of democracy in connection with philosophy. Likewise, in the absolute darkness of the First World War, the Russian Civil War and the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, the October Revolution, out of the ruins of the Russian Empire did in several decades which the old Romanovs could not do in hundreds – a semi-feudal, semi-agrarian society of the plough was raised to the level of a space-age nuclear superpower, even if only for roughly 70 years. In this transformation, a Georgian (Joseph Stalin) and a son of peasant farmers (Nikita Khrushchev) managed to attain the heights of power, despite their ethnicities having been of subject peoples mere generations ago – likewise, Yuri Gagarin the son of a carpenter and a dairy farmer managed to become the first cosmonaut, a practical philosopher of the heavens – whereas in contrast the German Reich had only used space for destructive V-2 missiles. The relevance of these three examples is that they are amongst the truest forms of the Transformation of Philosophers-in-Training to Philosopher-Kings, by the Form of the Good (which is probably associated with or is Marxism-Leninism itself). Likewise, consider the case of Xi Jinping and China itself. Xi Jinping, born in 1953, a mere couple of years after the most savage imperialist and civil wars, managed to ascend to the heights of China’s power in 2013 and China, which per capita, was poorer than various countries in Africa, is now exploring Mars and terrifies the old superpower and great powers of the world, simply by existing and investing in Africa despite not having attacked a recognised nation state, having achieved the largest poverty alleviation effort in history. All three French, Russian (October) and Chinese Revolutions, in some way, lesser or greater, achieved the Platonic transformation through Left leadership. The Platonic Transformation of Philosopher-in-training to Philosopher-King is the mark of Platonic (Western) Civilization, one that is deeply tied to the world Left. As a side note, it may be argued that China is the truest form of Platonic (Western) Civilization on the Earth right now because of this, the “good idea” that Mohandas Gandhi remarked of. Platonic civilization is not bound by ethnicity, race nor any other xenophobic, classist schema. Returning to the main point, because of these radical transformations, not only in themselves, but from the fact that they were from the direst of circumstances, out of the ashes of civil war, famine, mass poverty, imperialist invasion, the Left in fact embodies the Platonic ideal and because Plato is the heart of “Western” Civilization, the Left itself is Platonic (Western) Civilization!
5) The Universality of the Platonic Civilization and how all Lefts become itPlatonic (so-called “Western”) Civilization is well and truly universal, subsuming, incorporating and synthesizing all those other civilizations that receive it, not in the spirit of exclusion, supremacy and domination but in the spirit of universal brotherhood and common elevation. For those political factions, in spite of ethnic differences, that live up to or exemplify Platonism become Platonic civilization. The blackest defamation that the Left destroys civilization is accompanied by another black defamation, one directed against the colored peoples of the world that they are barbarians in a race war against “White” (a vague and ill-defined, ultimately classist term) civilization. Calgacus’ speech of antiquity is brought to mind, “to ravage, to slaughter, to usurp under false titles, they call empire; and where they make a desert, they call it peace” or “If the enemy be rich, they are rapacious; if he be poor, they lust for dominion; neither the east nor the west has been able to satisfy them. Alone among men they covet with equal eagerness poverty and riches. To robbery, slaughter, plunder, they give the lying name of empire; they make a solitude and call it peace.” . Indeed, Samuel P. Huntington (S to shit on his grave) justified the American rape of the Middle East with the imperial-idpol pseudotheory of “The Clash of Civilizations”. Furthermore, in his essay “The West: Unique, Not Universal”, in justifying Atlantic hegemony, Huntington denies the other peoples of the world the ideal potential to receive the Platonic transformation on their own terms, no doubt to justify imperialism and elitism with his gang of World Economic Forum mongrels. He further falsely identifies the project of Platonic (Western) Civilization with the Magna Carta rather than Plato’s Republic. On a more positive note, previously how the Left has achieved the Platonic Transformation in Revolutionary France, the Soviet Union and Modern China has been discussed. China, despite being Han and not Hellenic, currently embodies Plato’s project upon the Earth. Similarly, the Soviets, despite being Slavs, Turkic, with Jewish minorities also embodied it. To the disdain of the notorious racist Gobineau, the Revolutionary French, an admixture of Frankish-Germanic and Gallic Romance peoples nonetheless achieved it. None of these people were Hellenic nor Greek, yet they lived up to Plato’s ideals. Conversely, despite the Anglo-American hegemony and empire claiming “Western” civilization, they not only abandon Plato’s ideals but outright negate them. So in summary, although the French, October and Chinese Revolutions were never Greco-Roman ethnically, they all demonstrably lived up to Plato’s ideal of the transformation of philosophers-in-training into philosopher-kings. The Left IS Platonic (“Western”) Civilization and in fact, the People’s Republic of China is the true form of Platonic (“Western”) Civilization that Gandhi said would be a good (note ‘good’ and the Form of the Good) on this planet.
Conclusion1) The right are the negaters, book-burners, school-burners of Platonic (or so-called “Western”) Civilization whereas the Left is Platonic civilization itself. 2) Because the right in Evola and Spengler betrayed Platonic civilization for Vedic casteism and defeatist pessimism, the Left is Platonic civilization. 3) Because Popper and Courtois threw Plato to the Left, the Left is Platonic Civilization. 4) Because the Left embodies the Form of the Good and the Transformation of Philosopher-in-Training to Philosopher-King in even the worst of circumstances, the Left is Platonic Civilization 5) Platonic Civilization is not bound by any particular “race”, ethnicity nor culture and the universal left, in fulfilling Plato’s promises, especially in China, is Platonic Civilization. In summary, we the Left of all lands are not the destroyers of “Western” (in fact Platonic) Civilization that rightists and liberals defame and brand us as being, we are Platonic Civilization itself. We the Left are not destructive nihilists and vandals, we are the Guardians of Platonic Civilization reclaiming it from the Legions of Empire falsely usurping Platonic Civilization under the title “Western Civilization”.
The class conflict of Resistance against Empire, oppressed and oppressor, from Bouddicca, Hannibal, Vercingetorix, Spartacus and Arminius against the Eternal Empire has gone on for millennia, maybe even more on other planets and will continue until the meek reconquer the universe and build Kallipolis on it, regardless of whatever defamation is levelled against it.
