>>386057I make a distinction between right-wing nationalism and left-wing nationalism. Right-wing nationalism is the nationalism of oppressors while left-wing nationalism is the nationalism of the oppressed. White nationalism is right-wing since it seeks to maintain or even enhance the oppression of nonwhites at the hands of whites, while black nationalism is (generally) left-wing because it seeks to reduce or eliminate the oppression of blacks by whites. It is also possible for a group to have right-wing nationalism and left-wing nationalism simultaneously. For example, both the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party and the various left-wing communist parties in India espouse Indian nationalism. However, the objectives of their nationalism are quite different. The BJP seeks to maintain the dominance of Hindus, upper castes, men, and other dominant groups over Muslims, lower castes, women, and other marginalized groups. On the other hand, the Indian communist parties seek to reduce the dominance of Western countries, supranational organizations, NGOs, and companies over India and are opposed to preserving traditional social hierarchies within India. Basically, right-wing nationalists and left-wing nationalists in India have different enemies. Feel free to support left-wing anti-imperialist nationalism in India, but
do not support Hindutva.
