Has terrorism ever been sucessfully usef to destabilize a country? I have heard of hundreds of groups like this from the 60s to the 90s from all sides of the political spectrum, but they never seem to have gotten anywhere. Is there an example of this strategi unsuccessfully sparking a revolt/uprising or is it just revolutionary idealism? I know it's useless in a neoliberal society, but what about an authoritarian dictatorship with a history of abuse? Is this counter productive and has it ever done anything other than delegitimize a cause and get people killed/tortured/imprisoned end legitimize thw regime's repression?

Yes but only when the CIA is wielding them

Terrorism is not generally useful for starting revolutions, but it can be useful for achieving certain strategic goals. It was successfully employed by Hezbollah to kick the US and Israel out of Lebanon back in the 80's, for example.

It’s good for making a point. It’s strategy isn’t war or whatever, it’s mostly done as a political statement.

The world is controlled by violence it's senseless use though only serves to hurt you. Its a last resort but one the bourgeoisie will eventually push the world to. The justification of violence rest in the narrative of whether it's self-defense or malicious. Discipline decides which of the 2 we will represent.

You think too assumptive. Terrorism in the means of scaring the prolets in their daily life? For sure. That's not good. But to sabotage with minimizing the risk to harm innocents? Why not? Organized neo-uddites can be a threat to neoliberalism. Today even pacifist sitin blockades are framed as terrorism. Action has to be relatable. When a single ordinary citizen revolts because he cannot bear his suffering anymore and does things against his oppressors, it is relatable. It is the unconscious desire of many but their biased with moralist views. Antifascists and anarchists have a long history of assassinations and bombings. Here in the US it isn't that famous but for example in Italy they challenged fascism with it.

>Has terrorism ever been sucessfully usef to destabilize a country?

On the contrary no - terror has only been successfully used to stabilise rather than unstabilise, e.g French and October Revolutions. Overwhelmingly, the pattern for successful revolution is 1) country gets involved in major war (American war of independence, WWI for Russia) 2) country is exhausted and breaks down (French famines, Russian food shortages) 3) Revolutionary organisation seizes that opportunity.

Generally, you're better off waiting until the next world war when everyone is starving to spring Praxis. Peacetime, relative peacetime is for theory and organisation.

Saying that WW1 was caused by the death of the archduke is like looking at the finger when someone points the moon.
WW1 was caused by imperial competition, the actual casus belli was just an excuse.

I mean can you blame them that's how most people think the Great War started to begin with. Not realizing there was a bunch of other shit leading up to it and the crocodile tears shed for Franz was just an excuse for the Austro-Hungrians to try and get rid of the Serbs.
