 No.382900

Given recent announcements that the Biden administration will take active efforts to censor info on social media, and the not-so-recent precedents set by social media bannings over the last half decade, is it alarmist or reasonable to say that the US ruling class is beginning to resort to authoritarian methods?

Biden Press Sec.: "We've increased disinformation research and tracking… We're flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation." https://twitter.com/disclosetv/status/1415728046930268160

The Press Sec. again: "You shouldn't be banned from one platform and not others." https://twitter.com/townhallcom/status/1416089821056012289

Biden says platforms like Facebook are 'killing people' with Covid misinformation https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/16/politics/biden-facebook-covid-19/index.html

I've said this in like 50 posts now but the obvious end goal of this is to basically legalise imprisoning or sectioning into a psyche ward anyone who dosen't fall into the retarded faux dialectic of 'Uncle Joe + Kween Kamala v. Trump'
They literally made the USCP a fully fledged federal agency operating in any state that now has the right to harass anyone who is 'problematic' or is 'watching extremist content'

Obviously this has been going on for a while but also obviously this isn't nearly as bad as it can get. Fully fledged fascism would be major socialist influencers, publications and orgs getting deplatformed/criminalized

This. Also the fucking United States Postal Service was caught spying on people online. If you include these 2 with the Department of Homeland Security that's 3 unaccountable national security bureaucracies created in this century.

No that's stupid lol. The Germans didn't do WW2 because fascism is uniquely, irrationally aggressive. Fascism is a rational method of the ruling class to pursue its interests. WW2 was inevitable anyhow

I mean, there isn't much to tell. I just know Marxism-Leninism 101. Capitalists need to start wars to export their surplus of commodities/capital as well as destroy foreign capital to allow for highly profitable labor-intensive reinvestment

Authoritarianism yes absolutely. That said, people throw around "fascism" willy-nilly for its pejorative value but I honestly expected worse from both Biden and Trump in terms of militarism, I wouldn't want to stretch the parallel to 1930s Italy/Germany too closely.
The 2020 "election" was a corporate-owned farce on both sides and repression's only getting worse, a new oligarch in four years won't change anything.

When did I say that subjective consciousness can't influence the concrete conditions of the world despite the latter being primary? The form of government in Germany influenced some foreign policy decisions surely, but it is retarded to imply as that anon did that WW2 happened because the NSDAP was spontaneously psychotic and wanted to cause destruction for no reason

Irrationally aggressive is pretty much the definition of Hitler's policy. Even within nazism there were circles that didn't want a war of extermination with the USSR. 'WWII was inevitable' is deterministic bullshit and not hismat

america has been essentially a totalitarian police state since 9/11 but covid helped seal the deal. if you're still looking around at the world and wondering when fascism will happen as if it isn't already here, globally, you may be retarded
of course, the old-school left is too destroyed in most places for the ruling class to bother pretending to be revolutionary socialists these days. they just pretend to be woke instead, in this case saving (minority) lives from the big bad virus. but the real purpose of lockdowns and propaganda was atomising the population and decreasing their capacity to resist the "great reset"

what if ironically the attempts of the center shitlibs to stave off radicalism actually end up the start of the full degeneration of the burgerland, sort of similar to how succdems tried to unleash the korps on luxemburg and co., and then later those thugs came to power and then proceeded to attack the general Left regardless of level of radicalism

>legalise … sectioning into a psyche ward

This is nothing new and is arguably the whole reason psychology came into existence in the first place; psychology has a huge amount of its roots in the eugenics movement, arguing for instance that slave runaways were mentally defective. The same is true today, a lot of pathologies, especially anxiety, depression and generalized neuroticism, are unarguably caused by economic circumstance and these same people will approximate a vulgar critique of capitalism when outlining their illness to a shrink.

What is new, I think, is the crackup of centralized ideological state apparatus' because of the internet and the state desperately trying to get a grip on hegemonic ideological discourse hence their broadside at digital platforms especially ones with little to no moderation.

In terms of a lurch toward fascism, I don't see it. The state is more or less as authoritarian as it always has been, they've just adapted their methods alongside the technological and societal changes. The glowies aren't assassinating commies and radical trade unionists because they don't exist in western countries not because they got better after COINTELPRO came to be public knowledge. Furthermore, the most 1984esque authoritarian shit they've pulled for a long time was the mass NSA dragnet surveillance systems the Snowden leaked and all that was put in place long before any concern about an uptick in Antifa and neo-boomer Nazis.

Monopoly capitalism isn't hankering for an open terroristic dictatorship of the bourgeoisies, even Trump's facile nationalism was to strong for them or rather their profitability and power. The petty bourgeoise seemingly are lurching in a fascistic direction comparatively but that's because all small business owners are insane people that are squeezed between monopoly capital (i.e jewish capital) on one hand and any form of organized labour (i.e commies) on the other. The petty bourgeoise can have only pseudo-revolutionary potential because their mode of existence is based on Capitalism and will always be at threat from monopolists and organized labour hence them abstracting those elements for Capitalism proper as Jewish perversion and Communist subversion respectively
