What is your honest opinion on Counterpunch? I keep following it because I like Jeffrey St. Clair and Patrick Cockburn, but half of what they publish has the feel of planted stories from the state department and the other half is so amateurish it's like they deliberately curate material from children.

Don't have a clue what you're referring to OP, Counter Punch has always been a good source for leftist critique.

completely irrelevant

There's no reason for them to exist anymore. After the 2000s anti-war movement was over they went downhill very quickly.

A lot of writers from there come from the "al-Jazeera" left, if you will. They're very anti-Israel but they're equally anti-Iran and anti-Assad, also not big fans of Russia or China. However, they tend to be sympathetic to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. Basically, their stance on foreign policy issues is in-line with the Qataris.

It's seen better days. Back in the bad old days when the "End of History" was hegemonic, it was a breath of fresh air. Even then, it was still hit-and-miss. They're Greens, not Reds and that much should be kept in mind.

Maupin is the worst thing to happen to the online left

Correct. I read Counterpunch all the time back in 2006-2009 as a teenager but since then they've been awful.

Why? Maupin may be revisionist in some areas but he at least understands Marxism better than 99% of the online fakes and poseurs do.

no, Maupin is pretty good

It's not outright socialist but it's fairly decent and has many great articles. It's definitely better than Jacobin

Nothing but left-punching bullshit smearing anyone who criticizes the DNC as "red-brown"
