>>101490i think memes have always done this, but i think ive just noticed it now and it is more explicit with this meme. but memes are no longer ironic and they with this meme specifically, there seems to be two parties in which there is explicit celebration and approval of the ideas in the meme or, on the other side, mockery of the said situation. it's always been like this with every meme, as a small minority celebrates an absurd situation and a majority is making fun of the situation and vice versa.
but with the sigma meme there seems to be no clear divide in their spaces, at least to me, as the original sigma grindset was authentic in its intentions and serious. this has created offshoots where there is the mocking parodies and genuine reproductions. in consumption of this meme, there are mixed spaces in comment sections receiving relatively equal attention.
Normally, when you consume a meme, the most liked comments often reveal the author's intention, often of parody. additionally, the author highlights these comments. however, in these spaces, there are also comments receiving relatively equal attention in which there is unironic approval of the parody's ideas. the youtube algorithm revealed videos where this parody nature was lost and was being used as propaganda mirroring the non-parodied original. so what you end up with is the algorithm recommending you parodies and propaganda and these two usually distinct audiences ending up in the same space.
what you end up with is a meme with clear class divides and class motivations appreciating the meme, and without research of the author's intentions, it can make one suspicious.
