Effort would also be made towards making the need for armed police unnecessary, as the issues people who become criminals face are ultimately economic. They would be given comprehensive mental health care and support by the community they live in so they don't feel the need to commit things like property crime.
Also just a reminder that the drug war is the biggest driver of criminality in the US.
